Sun Xueling Surprises Rebecca Lim By Telling Her She "Only Spent About $3K” On Her Wedding

After meeting her idol Fann Wong in the first episode of her new talk show, With Love, Becks, Rebecca Lim, 36, got an audience with MP Sun Xueling, 43, in the second ep.

Turns out, both women are alums of St Nicholas Girls’ School. While touring the campus, they reminisced about their school days, and even sang the school song in its entirety.

Besides chatting about their younger days, Rebecca also sought to find out more about MP Sun’s life as a married woman, and as a mother to two young daughters, aged nine and five.

The blushing bride-to-be was also interested to find out more about the MP’s “interesting” wedding banquet that she had read about online.

“It wasn’t exactly a feast, because it was a very very small-scale [celebration],” said MP Sun, who is married to a Beijing-born IT entrepreneur. Her husband became a Singapore citizen in 2009.

“There were only 30 guests and it was buffet-style [right]?” asked Becks.

“Yes, we chose [to get married] on Vesak Day 'cos I thought that people might be more free [to attend] on a public holiday. I felt that it wasn’t appropriate to have a feast [on that day], and it was better to have something more simple. So we just held a vegetarian lunch with 30 plus guests. [My] wedding dress was also very simple, and I didn’t do much research, I only spent about S$3K on my wedding,” chuckled the MP.

Becks gasped in surprise after hearing the amount and couldn’t help but exclaim “That’s very good!”.

In a b-roll interview, the MP talked about what a wedding ceremony means to her. “The wedding is just a ceremonial thing, the most important thing is that both parties feel happy and their families are happy too,” she said.

She then stressed that it was more important for the couple to get along well, and for their families to live blissfully.

MP Sun then cheekily asked Becks what she calls her fiancé, Matthew Webster, giving her examples such as “darling” and “baobei”.

A shy Rebecca hemmed and hawed before telling the MP: “Eh, if you’re asking me this, then I’ll ask you too!”

“It’s simple for me, I just call him ‘husband’ ah,” replied the MP, smiling.

After a few more seconds of avoiding the question and furious blushing, Becks revealed that she addresses her husband-to-be as “Matt”.

MP Sun then continued, saying that she couldn’t remember what she used to address her husband as when they were dating because it’s simply been “too long” for her.
