Style Evolution: Felicia Chin

Felicia got her showbiz break at the young age of 18 when she emerged the female champion of Star Search 2003. Look how fresh-faced she was!

Felicia gussied up her simple yellow top with statement earrings (remember those?) and an enviable summer tan.

Who can forget Felicia’s infamous “running down Orchard Road in a bikini” scene with Fiona Xie?

Remember when ROXY was the must-have brand? Visors and track jackets weren’t exactly stylish even in 2004, but props to Felicia for looking like that sports coach everyone had a crush on back in our schooling days.

Felicia told us she used to wear sports jackets with everything and she wasn't joking. The look isn't that bad, but the dangly earrings look out of place.

With her layered hair and simple black halter dress, 19-year-old Felicia was barely discernable from your typical university student enjoying a girls’ night out.

Oh dear, her updo and dreary outfit just added 20 years to her look.

Like all of us, Felicia once wore a vest as a top. The woven belt and overdone hairspray sure bring back memories.

This peasant look might seem a little ridiculous now, but it’s nothing compared to what’s coming next….

She was Pierre Png's "Mei Ren Yu" (Little Mermaid) in the drama, but we think she looks more like Tinkerbell instead.

This look is more worthy of a host on an '80s Taiwanese variety show than on a Caldecott princess.

After that disaster of a dress, Felicia decided to tone it down — way down — for the awards ceremony the following year.

Around 2009, Felicia started pushing the envelope with a sexier look. Wish she would lose the tights though.

In between the onslaught of tartan, the wrinkled skirt, the go-go boots, and the inexplicable hairstyle, we’re not sure where to begin with this outfit. We’re going to assume she lost a dare with the show’s stylists.

We love that Felicia doesn’t shy away from bright colours. These are two of our favourite Star Awards looks from the star.

Now here’s a cute way to mix prints: break the patterns up with a little bit of skin.

While we adore this bright Isabel Sanchez number on Felicia, her platinum blonde locks seem to wash out her complexion.

Now this strawberry blonde do is much better. But did Felicia spend too much time on her hair and forgot to steam her dress?

What can we say? If you’ve got it, flaunt it — and boy, Felicia’s figure in this cropped top and skirt ensemble has inspired us to revive our gym membership.

Yellow is a tricky colour for Asians but Felicia is a picture of sunshine in this Bimba Y Lola mod dress.

Felicia’s see-through Paolo Sebastian gown will undoubtedly go down as one of the Star Awards’ most iconic looks. Even her fellow artistes, such as the visibly bashful Elvin Ng, weren’t quite sure where to look. She later told us years a couple of years later that the gown was more sheer than expected under the sunlight and it caught her by surprise.

Felicia looked every bit like a star when she accepted the Dream Idol award in this gorgeous gold embroidered gown from The Proposal bridal boutique.

Felicia's hypnotic Mary Katrantzou getup was one of the night's most adventurous looks.

Felicia changed into a soft Basil Soda gown for the awards ceremony.
