Steven Lim Overshares About Girlfriend's Past While Announcing Their 4th Breakup
This is reportedly the fourth time the couple has broken up in their seven-eight-month-old relationship.
Is local Internet personality Steven Lim single again… or not really?
Dressed in a yellow top, the 49-year-old announced on a livestream: “Me and my girlfriend Lihui have broken up already.” According to him, the couple has broken up four times so far.
The declaration came barely weeks after he celebrated her birthday on December 26, prompting netizens to wonder if this was a breakup or just another episode in their longstanding relationship drama.
Steven and Lihui went Insta-public last June and started a shared TikTok channel documenting their love story.
In his livestream, Steven began oversharing details about their relationship, her exes, and even revealing they “never held hands”.
Lihui was then seen joining the livestream, having a war of words with Steven, even calling him evil. The couple then brought up what they were dissatisfied with each other, ranging from the former being on dating apps, to the latter speaking bad about her online. Yes, all on livestream.
"A lot of people would want to rub lotion on your body, they said, right?" he asked Lihui. She admitted she had received such messages but swears she didn't do anything.
He also confidently announced that he still had “many women” lining up to be his girlfriend.
“Those who want to be my girlfriend, all inbox me now. Okay, I am not joking,” he said.
He went on to say the couple’s TikTok channel would be handed over to whoever replaces Lihui, adding that he prefers someone “low profile”.
Steven also explained the breakup, saying Lihui didn’t know how to treasure him.
“I need my girl to listen to me. Left means left, right means right. I am an alpha. I cannot be a beta,” he explained, adding that anyone above 18, repeating that he likes his partner to be low profile, and doesn’t mind if they earn more or less than him.
“As long as you show me you are truthful to me, listen to me, I will bark for you. I will be a loyal dog,” he says.
Unsurprisingly, netizens quickly called the whole thing a publicity stunt.
And they might be on to something.
Subsequent TikTok videos saw Steven saying they had gotten back together, mere days after the initial blow up. The couple even attended the Greenland 2 movie gala together on Tuesday (Jan 6).
Steven even proudly declared that many other women had applied to take Lihui’s spot. But this time, his attitude towards his girlfriend was vastly different.
“Those who have already applied to be my girlfriend, this is what happens. I gave up the entire forest just for her,” he declared.
“Are you so lucky?” he asked Lihui, who was also in the video, while she responded with visible side-eye and dry sarcasm.
“Trust me, it will backfire. Don’t use this tactic. It doesn’t work on me,” Steven retorted. Lihui replied dryly: “It also doesn’t work on me.”
When followers accused him of attracting AI bots instead of real applicants, Steven insisted the women were real, some even applying twice.
“Thank you so much! I hope there will not be a next time,” before going on about Lihui’s dating history in 2018, and how she has made many girls jealous.
“What? Don’t rubbish lah!” Lihui laughed.
Before Lihui, Steven announced in a May 10 IG post that he had broken up with his ex-girlfriend (who he says looks like a famous Taiwanese Mandarin singer). They had been dating for about a year then.
According to him, and like Lihui, she had also messaged him previously to apply to be his girlfriend.
