It’s no secret that Stefanie Sun’s fans are a very passionate bunch.

When the Singaporean pop diva announced the Beijing leg of her Aut Nihilo Sun Yanzi In Concert tour, nearly 2 million fans fought to get their hands on the 100,000 tickets available.

Tickets to the June 13 and 15 shows at Beijing’s National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, were snapped up in just 15 seconds.

But that didn’t stop those who missed out from enjoying the show in their own way.

According to reports, nearly 10,000 people gathered outside the stadium, treating it like one massive open-air karaoke party.

Videos on Xiaohongshu showed fans snacking, waving lightsticks and phone flashlights and singing along.

All this was not lost on Stef who gave a shout-out to the fans outside during her second show and even cued them to scream so she could hear them inside.

Describing their enthusiasm as “indescribable” and “overwhelming”, Stef said she was moved by fans and joked that “watching the video [of fans outside] felt like someone was cutting onions next to me.”

Some netizens commented that besides Taiwanese rock band Mayday, no other artiste who has performed at the Bird’s Nest has managed to command such an overwhelming crowd outside.
