“Typo Or Social Experiment?”: StarHub’s Strange Job Listing Still Has Over 100 People Clicking To Apply
We know job hunting these days is tough, but with listings like this... It's literally impossible.
Recently, a Redditor known as cognitan came across an, um, interesting job listing on LinkedIn by StarHub.
A screenshot shared by cognitan in a post showed that the role is for a full-time 'Manager'.
Sounds normal, until you scroll down. Under "Job Description" and "Qualifications", it read: "[Please copy from Word Pad instead of Word Document]." Sorry, what?
Apparently, over 100 people have clicked to apply, despite the unusual JD.
"What's the point of even applying? Is this typo or just blatant social experiment?," the OP remarked.
He also pointed out that this was reflective of how bad the market is now, with over 100 people still clicking to apply. "We just randomly apply to anything and everything..." he said.
It's safe to assume that the posting was uploaded by mistake. But the wildest part? This listing is actually a repost, meaning the error was already present in a previous posting.
However, as of press time, it appears that the listing can no longer be found on StarHub's LinkedIn page.
Still, it didn't stop Redditors making light of this HR blunder.
"I think I'm qualified for this job. I can copy paste extremely well. Did it daily at my previous job," quipped one netizen. Ironically, the person who posted it clearly didn't know how to copy and paste...
Another joked: "I would also apply for a job that just wants me to copy from Word Pad instead of Word Document."
The Reddit thread also gave some job seekers an opportunity to air their grievances about the job market, with some lamenting just how "hopeless" it feels to land a job these days.
