Fann Wong Thanks Herself While Accepting Christopher Lee’s Star Awards 2023 Best Host Win

Who knew the (sexiest?) star was such a comedian?

The only nominee in his category who couldn’t attend the awards show in person, Christopher Lee won Best Programme Host honours at tonight’s (Apr 9) Star Awards for talk show Dishing With Chris.

The 51-year-old star beat seasoned hosts Quan Yifeng, Darren Lim, Dennis Chew and Bryan Wong to the trophy, his first hosting award.

Chris wasn’t able to attend the ceremony as he is promoting the movie version of his 2020 drama series Workers in Taiwan.

But what 8days.sg didn’t expect was that Fann Wong would be such a good stand-in when she accepted the trophy on his behalf.

The moment the camera followed her from behind as she emerged on stage in a sleek black gown, we imagined a collective dropping of the jaw among viewers seeing how dangerously low-cut the back of her gown was.

What was also surprising was how funny her husband’s prepared speech was when delivered by his amused wife.

Reading Chris’ speech off a little note card, Fann began by thanking the cast and crew of the production, as well as his celebrity guests.

“I also want to thank minister Chan Chun Sing and my celebrity pals. Your life stories are the highlight of Dishing With Chris. And you, my lovely wife,” said Fann, looking slightly embarrassed.

“Without you, there wouldn’t be Chris’ homecooked meals. Thank you for being my guinea pig,” read Fann, before saying “Thank you” to herself and patting herself on the shoulder.

“You say whatever I cook is delicious. I love you,” she continued.

“I love you too haha,” laughed Fann, while patting herself on the shoulder.

Her inadvertently narcissistic acceptance speech left audiences in stitches.

Even hosts Lee Teng and Matilda Tao commented this was a first for them.

“It’s as though you’re speaking to yourself,” said Lee Teng, to which Matilda chimed in, “Schizophrenic.”

Someone give Fann a comedy show already.
