S'pore National Cricket Player Avi Dixit Gives a Tour of His Chinese-Inspired Family Home

You may know local content creator Avi Dixit (@avidixit10) from social media, where he shot to fame for his viral videos portraying a stereotypical Indian dad — a character he developed during the pandemic.

But the 26-year-old wears more than one hat. He is also a professional athlete who represents the Singapore national cricket team, which clinched gold at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, and more recently, bronze at the 2025 SEA Games.

In the latest episode of Kaypoh Room Tours, Avi welcomes host Hazelle Teo into his four-room condominium, where he lives with his family.

He reveals that while they didn’t spend much on renovations for the 1,700 sq ft home, they splurged on furniture and decorative pieces instead. According to Avi, the space is “heavily Chinese inspired”, featuring strong wood accents influenced by their travels and the seven years they spent living in Shanghai.

One standout feature in the living room is an open bar — though Avi admits it’s more of a “showpiece”.

“I personally don't drink at all, being an athlete. As Indians, we love to host people, and part of hosting is having whatever anyone needs. That's a big reason [we have the bar],” he explains.

Another eye-catching element is a customised marble chess set displayed on a glass-top coffee table that was specially designed to showcase it.

The family also owns a tea table and tea set purchased in China and shipped back to Singapore.

“China had a huge influence on us, and we wanted to take as much as we could to have a lasting impact,” adds Avi.

Avi’s bedroom, meanwhile, reflects his passions and hobbies.

At the entrance sits a workstation where he creates all his viral content. Mounted on the walls are three Lego models of Formula 1 cars from the sport’s biggest teams, including Avi’s favourite, Mercedes-AMG.

The self-proclaimed “biggest Formula 1 fan in the world” then cheekily holds up a brand-new Lego Red Bull Racing model, adding that “the fourth is coming soon”.

Resting on his desk is the SEA Games gold medal he won in 2023, alongside two bronze medals from the same year.

“It holds a very dear place in my heart and is proof that if you work hard, you can achieve anything,” he shares, adding that the medals have yet to be framed as he’s still searching for the perfect display.

Reflecting on his journey as an athlete, Avi says:
“I played four sports growing up, and now I play cricket for Singapore. It's a dream come true.”

“When I moved to Singapore in 2011, I had already started playing cricket, and then I came to the age groups — under 16s, to the under 19s, to the national team.”

He adds:
“There's been a lot of progress in Singapore cricket and I hope it's only upwards from here. Representing Singapore at a national level is the highest honour. To be able to raise the flag high for your country, there's no greater honour you could ever have in life.”

Content creation only entered Avi’s life during the pandemic, after he suffered an ankle ligament injury that prevented him from playing cricket.

He began with ping-pong trick-shot challenge videos, later incorporating dance trends, before finding his breakthrough in 2022 when he leaned fully into the stereotypical Indian dad persona.

Today, Avi has expanded his repertoire, portraying teachers, students, and even Indian mums in his comedic skits. His relatable content has since earned him 1.6 million followers on TikTok.

Ultimately, while content creation has been a “dream come true”, Avi admits that being a professional athlete still takes precedence.

“It's 51-49 in favour of being an athlete, but both have their incredible perks,” he says.
