Shawn Thia Ranks Last On Streamers Go Live Again; Says It Might Be Because He’s Too Focused On “Establishing Himself As An Actor”

He thinks the baggage he carries from being a newbie actor might be why he’s not suited to be a streamer.

Streamers Go Live held their second live stream last Tuesday (Aug 2), and sold a whole array of products including blenders, running shoes and fried chicken.

The leaderboard was then released, and topping the ranking this time was a very confident Tai Tai, who came in fifth previously.

Unfortunately, placing last again is Sunny Side Up star Shawn Thia.

Tai Tai ranked first this time round

Shawn and Maxi Lim teamed up to sell running shoes. However, the judges weren’t too pleased with their pitch  the guys went with telling a personal story to market the product — commenting that they took too long to get to the “main part”.

Even mentor Lee Teng had to step in to rush them to get to the point.

However, Shawn continued to share a story about wearing army boots when he was in National Service, an anecdote a judge found unrelatable.

“This would resonate with male viewers not with female viewers,” she said, while explaining that it had caused Shawn to lose points.

So how does he feel about coming in last again?

When the results were revealed, Shawn put on a brave face and said that while he was a little sad about the results, he would be able to sleep well that night as he had already “done [his] best”.

All the best in the next live stream, Shawn!

However, during his solo interview, presumably a few days after the live stream, Shawn appeared more affected by the results than he let on.

He revealed that he initially participated in the show to “play” and to gain a better understanding of live streams and variety shows.

“I’m really not that eloquent but that’s okay,” he said.

To make up for his lack of experience, Shawn worked doubly hard to prepare for the second live stream, and even went to Maxi’s house to rehearse, exchange notes and discuss their game plan. He was also satisfied with his performance on the day they went live, which explained his disappointment at the results.

“To be honest, I felt quite sad. I couldn’t sleep when I got home because I kept thinking about what went wrong,” admitted Shawn.

He continued: “I’d be lying if I said that this didn’t affect me. But… maybe I’m just not suited for this. Maybe because at the back of my mind, I still want to establish myself as an actor in showbiz, so I’m unable to let go of my baggage as an actor. It could be a psychological barrier, it’s very difficult.”

We guess Shawn's IG story sums up how feels about the latest results
