Sharon Au Meets Ivy Lee In Paris; Gushes Over Ivy’s Acting In Stepping Out

They really don't make stars like they used to. Sharon Au’s recent Instagram post was a very welcome blast from the past, with the former host revealing that she’d met up with fellow ex Mediacorp artiste Ivy Lee, 49, in Paris.

Ivy has been based in England for the last five years. She left Mediacorp in 2007, and moved to Hongkong two years later with her Hongkong director husband Raymond Choy. The family moved to England in 2017.

And now, it looks like the move has made it way easier for Ivy to travel around Europe, hence this reunion between Sharon and Ivy.

In her caption, Sharon referred to Ivy as her idol, and revealed that she regards Ivy’s performance as Ah Ju in the classic 1999 Mediacorp drama, Stepping Out, as "one of the best performances ever in the history of Singapore’s TV drama”.

Stepping Out was a major hit when it first aired, and swept almost all the professional category awards it was nominated for at the Star Awards in 1999. Ivy was also nominated for Best Actress, but eventually lost to fellow Stepping Out star Cynthia Koh, who played Hong Dou.

Sharon also paid tribute to former actor Xie Shaoguang, who played Ivy’s husband, Zhang Jiafu in the drama.

"Her chemistry with Xie Shaoguang was unbeatable and their love story immensely moving," she wrote, sharing a throwback picture from 1999, when she graced the cover of 8 Days with Ivy and Shaoguang.

"Tonight’s dinner brought back floods of memory of the golden era of Caldecott Hill, which I hold dearly in my heart,” Sharon added.

Many agreed with Sharon’s words, with one netizen commenting : "The golden era of Singapore TV! Loved [Stepping Out]”.

Others, like Ah Jie Zoe Tay couldn’t help but to comment on how good Ivy looks.

"Wow, Ivy looks amazing,”Zoe marvelled, while Pan Lingling added: "2 pretty ladies”.
