SGAG’s Xiao Ming Didn’t Ask His Wife Along For Blackpink’s Concert ’Cos She’s A BTS Fan; She Retaliates By Giving Away One Of His Beloved Plants

Earlier this week, SGAG's Xiao Ming's wife Goh Xin Lei, aka Xiao Li, 36, took to Xiao Ming's Instagram to announce that she'll be giving away one of her husband's beloved plants. (In case you don't know, Xiao Ming is a crazy plant dad.)

The reason? He's going for Blackpink's concert at the National Stadium this Saturday (May 13) without her.

The 36-year-old SGAG co-founder apparently didn't even bother asking his wife before he bought the ticket. 

"How is it acceptable that my husband is going for Blackpink's concert and spending a night fanboying over girls!? All this he is doing without me and without my approval!" ranted Xin Lei on IG.

"Anyway I have decided to be kind and forgiving by only giving away his plant. XM better not be complaining cause I can jolly well be giving away his Blackpink ticket!," she added.

When 8days.sg got on a call with Xiao Ming, he shared that his wife, who is a BTS fan, only found out that he was going for the concert because he had carelessly left his concert ticket on his work desk at home. He had planned to go to gig with his SGAG colleagues. 

She clearly did not take to it well and his response probably didn't help his case either. 

"I was like: “Well... I don’t think I need to ask you right? Since you’re a BTS fan," said Xiaoming, who added that there's a "Blackpink vs BTS situation at home". 

In fact, the couple regularly bicker about the two K-pop groups.

"I’ll be browsing TikTok and for example, Blackpink’s Coachella performance will keep playing. She’ll be like: “Can you stop it?” (Laughs). Meanwhile, I don’t get jealous but I just don’t know how to appreciate [BTS's] talents," joked Xiaoming whose favourite Blackpink member is Jennie.

It's why Xiao Ming was so certain his wife wouldn't have wanted to go watch Blackpink with him.

"Actually, she would have violently objected to me going but as they always say: 'Do first then ask for forgiveness later'," he quipped before saying: "Don’t care what my wife says. I’ll deal with the aftermath later (laughs)."

The "aftermath", as it turns out, is his wife giving away his plant in exchange of him keeping his Blackpink concert ticket. 

"She randomly picked one plant. I was like “What the? Can you at least give away an uglier plant?”, he chuckled.

According to Xiao Ming, the plant is a Philodendron Florida Beauty and he bought it for S$88.

Still, Xiao Ming knows saying goodbye to his plant is the lesser of two evils.

"I love plants but Blackpink doesn't come to Singapore often. Plants I can always buy again," he said.
