Revealed: Kelly Latimer Has A Thing For Cheesy Period Dramas And Accents

How many hours I spend watching TV

At the moment, I get about an hour a day, maybe? I tend to sit down with [my husband] Justin to unwind as we fold laundry in the evening after [my eight-month old daughter] Sienna goes to bed. Oh gawd… I’m officially middle-aged!

The TV show I watch first thing in the morning

We’re limiting screen time for Sienna, so the TV is usually off in the morning. But sometimes I’ll have the news on, just to catch up with what’s going on in the world.

The TV show I watch before going to bed

Right now, it’s Game of Thrones. But when that runs out, I’ll likely go back to Bloodline. It’s not new, but the plot twists are crazy. That, and Photo Face-Off… I really can’t wait for the season finale. I reckon this season is also the best we’ve had so far!

The TV show that defined my childhood

It has to be [the Brit sci-fi comedy] Red Dwarf. I loved [the character] Lister, and it was his love for Fiji that has made me desperate to go. I haven’t made it there yet. Yet. Eurgh. I need a holiday.

The last TV show I binged on

When I’m on the road, I binge on Orange is the New Black. I’ve been in love with Ruby Rose for forever, and she was the reason I started watching the show. I don’t think she’s the best actor but her face is enough to keep me hooked. I try to ration it to one ep a day though to drag it out!

The TV show everyone's talking about but I haven't seen yet

I’m still behind on Game of Thrones. Justin and I always watch it together, but I’ve been travelling so much that I haven’t had a chance to catch up yet. I’ve virtually had to ban myself from Facebook because of the spoilers.

The most unforgettable TV moment

It’s actually rather tragic, but it’s forever etched in my mind — 9/11. I remember hearing it on the BBC World Service first, then running downstairs to turn on the TV. I think it was then I realised that the world we live in was about to change. Now, we’ve got Trump ruling the free world, it’s got me wondering what sort of world I’m raising my children in.

The TV show I'm too embarrassed to tell everyone that I'm watching

When I was in the early stages of breastfeeding Sienna, I binged on The Reign. It’s like a teeny-bopper fusion of The Crown and Game of Thrones. The acting isn’t great, the storyline is worse, but it had 61 hour-long episodes — and I needed something to keep me going!

The TV show that inspired what I am doing now

From the age of about 16, I knew I wanted to do something communications related. But it was CNBC’s Squawk Box that made me want to do something more hard-hitting than focusing solely on entertainment. I was interning at CNBC during my poly days and I fell in love with the realness of discussing world events and their impact on markets and trends. Now, I’m no business grad, so chatting casually about stocks and shares wasn’t going to come easily. So I guess that’s why I fell so happily into sports — it was a happy marriage of entertainment and news.

Dominic West

Dominic Cooper, Dominic West or Dominic Purcell?

Neither of these Dominics get me going, but I loved The Wire. So of the three, it has to be West. I love doing accents and he [as a British] really nailed [the American accent] as policeman Jimmy McNulty.

Photo Face-Off airs Thur, History (StarHub Ch 401), 9pm.
