Regene Lim’s 4-Room BTO Features Custom Furniture For Her 192cm-Tall Husband And A Meaningful Gift From Her Dad

In the latest episode of #JustSwipeLah’s Crib Swipe, local actress Regene Lim, 26, takes host Jernelle Oh on a tour of her four-room BTO, which she shares with her husband, Sergul Toh.

Her apartment, located in the East, is styled in a mid-century modern aesthetic, with vintage touches and pops of colour adding character to the otherwise sleek, tidy space.

In the living room, a large burnt caramel-coloured sofa anchors the room. According to Regene, it's spacious enough “for two people to lie on at the same time”. As it turns out, the generous size is just right for Sergul, who towers at 192cm tall.

The kitchen also features a detail tailored to Sergul’s height — the unusually high countertop — prompting Jernelle to comment: “I feel you are someone who deeply loves your husband.”

“When we were renovating this house, I was constantly thinking for my husband," Regene explained. "In our daily lives, all [the counters we have come across] are too low. He is someone who’s taller, so we specifically told our interior designer to make it higher.”

And if you think the customisations for her husband stop there, there’s another standout feature in the master bedroom made just for him.

Regene shared that their bed is larger than usual, explaining: “Usually, the king size you buy is 1.9m, but my husband is already 1.9m tall, so we specially had its height extended.”

Custom-made to fit his frame, she revealed the bed now measures 2.2m in length — while still being perfectly comfortable for Regene’s 1.6m frame.

Beyond the customised furniture, Regene’s home also features thoughtful touches that add plenty of character.

In the living room, she had thoughtfully put together a gallery wall of photos featuring her and her husband, alongside cherished moments with friends, displayed in a mix of frames in different styles and shapes.

“Do you feel like it has a bit of a museum feel? [Like the kind you see in] photo exhibitions,” asked Regene excitedly.

She continued: “Actually, in this entire house, we spent the most time on this photo wall. [It took] one week, seven nights — from 7pm until maybe 1 or 2am. Because we had to choose the frames, find the centre of the wall, then we had to give careful thought [as to where each picture would go].”

With the wall fully done up, Regene’s friends can also spot themselves in the photos whenever they visit.

In the corner of the living room sits a dry pantry where Regene keeps her Star Awards from winning Best Young Talent in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She laughed that it was simply because she had nowhere else to put them. But when asked by Jernelle what she would do if she won more in the future, she playfully quipped that she would clear the alcohol on the adjoining shelf, a quick solution to a very good problem.

In their home office, a wall painted in a similar brown tone to their sofa features a very special piece of artwork.

When asked by Jernelle if she had painted the artwork, which features a character from the popular ‘90s basketball manga series Slam Dunk, Regene revealed that it was actually created by her father, pointing out his initials at the bottom.

“He made it for our new home. He probably felt he should give us an extra special gift, so he painted this for my husband,” she added.

Jernelle gushed: “That’s so meaningful, because he knows your husband likes playing basketball.”

We honestly can’t think of a better housewarming gift.
