Rebecca Lim Opens Up About Pressure To "Bounce Back" After Giving Birth: "I Despise Myself For Feeling This Way"
As incredible as motherhood is, it undeniably comes with some struggles too.
Rebecca Lim would know that.
Yesterday (Sep 2), the 39-year-old actress shared on Instagram how she's been feeling three months after giving birth to her baby girl.
Becks, who got married to Matthew Webster in 2022, welcomed their second child, a daughter, in May. They also have a two-year-old son.
"I am so grateful for my village, and so incredibly thankful for my babies. But there are days when it hasn’t been easy," she confessed.
"Mostly, I struggle with how I look in the mirror. And I despise myself for feeling that way."
Becks said that she knows that "there is more to life than that", but at the same time, she's also "only human".
"The pressure to 'bounce back' is real," she wrote.
The actress admitted to having to constantly remind herself that comparison is the "thief of joy" but some days, she simply "can't pretend" she's okay.
"Perhaps that’s what I want to say. That it is okay if you’re not okay. Every one of us is fighting a battle no one else can see."
Becks averred that, while one can miss what they were, they should learn to embrace the new version of themselves too.
"Because perhaps this changed version is better. Softer, yet stronger and wiser," she mused.
Sharing a series of photos with her daughter in her arms, Becks then shared about learning to love herself so that her daughter could learn to do the same as she grows up.
“And it’s moments like this, with her little head resting on my shoulder, that remind me why I have to learn to love every part of myself, even when I don’t feel my best.”
