Rebecca Lim Cried After Someone Called Her A “Big Green Apple” At The Star Awards Just 3 Months After Giving Birth
The 38-year-old actress, who is back on screen with the second season of With Love, Becks, said her confidence was at an all-time low then but now knows she's being too hard on herself.

Rebecca Lim, 38, who welcomed her baby boy in January, makes her long-anticipated return to our screens with the second season of With Love, Becks.
The series will follow Becks as she chats with other showbiz mummies about juggling motherhood, marriage and career.
In the first episode, Rebecca catches up with Sheila Sim, 40, at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.
Sheila, who has two daughters Layla, four, and Skyla, one, is not one to shy away from sharing about the ups and downs of parenting on social media, and Becks was “curious to find out about what she could learn from her”.
“We have similar life experiences,” said Sheila, adding: “We both got married not long after meeting our partners.”
Sheila tied the knot with banker Deon Woo in 2018, while Becks married Matthew Webster in 2022.
Rebecca said: “Actually back then, when I saw the news saying that you were getting married after knowing your boyfriend for less than a year, I was like, ‘sure or not’.”
“Must be pregnant,” joked Sheila.
She continued: “Actually, at our age, when we meet the right person, we don’t need to wait too long. Dating can be done after. But you moved fast. You didn’t have the chance to date. You already have a son now.”
Becks agreed, saying: “I was very blessed. I found out I was pregnant less than six months after the wedding. But when I found out about it, I was not very elated. Firstly, I didn’t expect it. It was also because my dad had just passed on a few days before, so at that moment, I was happy, but I also thought about how great it would be if my dad was still around.”
Becks then shared that the biggest change she experienced since becoming a mum was becoming more patient and appreciative of her mother.
“In the past, I would get impatient easily with my mum and those close to me. But since becoming a mum, I’ve started to see things from a different perspective. I see her struggles, and I cherish her even more. I’m thankful for all the small things she does for me now,” she said with a smile.
Becks also opened up about the stress of making her comeback.
“The stress doesn’t come from me worrying about my baby, because I know he is well taken care of. The stress stems from the expectations I have of myself. I only want to show everyone the best version of me, and that’s something I ask of myself as an actress. I worry I’m not in my best state yet. Like when it comes to my figure, or my state of mind — I haven’t fully returned to my ideal ‘working mode’,” she shared.
“It’s not easy, especially when your baby is still at such an adorable stage. It would definitely be hard to leave him,” empathised Sheila.
Rebecca then revealed an incident that happened to her at the Star Awards in April. The event marked her first on-screen appearance less than three months after giving birth to her son.
“I was actually quite excited. I hadn’t been out for a while, and I could doll up for the occasion. At the rehearsals, I remember asking you about the logistics of things because we had to prepare milk for our babies and all. So there were a lot of things to consider and to be nervous about,” said Becks to Sheila.
“But from the start, it was already difficult for me to find an outfit. I was no longer sample size. I couldn’t fit into the dresses [the stylists found] in the largest sizes. So my confidence was already at its lowest.”
“Right before I had to walk the red carpet, I heard someone say: “She looks like a big green apple walking around”. I really wanted to turn around and find out who said it, but I told myself not to get affected. To just take a deep breath, and walk the red carpet,” recalled Becks.
Rebecca later revealed she “had a huge crying session” to get over the whole incident.
“In that moment, I forgot I had just given birth and I really did not have to be so hard on myself. When I first joined showbiz, I received plenty of criticism on my figure, and I took a long time to accept myself. I’m not a very slim person and I don’t have the perfect body, but during Star Awards, I forgot all of that. I had to learn [to deal with it] from scratch again,” she said.
Well, we think Becks looks great as always and can definitely afford to be kinder to herself.
