Qi Yuwu Feels Bad He Can’t Oversee Renovations On His and Joanne Peh’s New House
The actor is filming in Malaysia.
Apart from filming iQIYI drama The Ferryman: Legends of Nanyang in Malaysia, Qi Yuwu has another major project on his mind: his new home with Joanne Peh.
Yesterday (Sep 15), the couple revealed on Instagram that major renovations have been going on for their new place, which is located in the east side of Singapore [Ed: Yuwu declines to reveal how much they paid for it.]
A major overhaul
Joanne, 37, wrote: “A home @qiyuwu and I are building together and transforming into our taste. Aside from the fact that this has been much delayed, due to all the unforeseen circumstances of this year, one of the other (of the many) challenges include having to do this remotely with him. And making decisions in between “cut” and “action”. Keeping my fingers tightly crossed for a smooth not-too-delayed handover.”

“I remember when my wife and I renovated our first house together, we personally saw and hand-picked everything from the ceiling to the toilet bowl to the faucets. Because of the renovations, we got to know each other better. Every day, we’d watch our home evolve into what we had in mind, and I felt very blessed. Even though renovating a house is exhausting, I was full of happiness as I had someone to share it with,” Yuwu, 43, wrote.
Extreme makeover
He then revealed that he “feels bad” about not being here to oversee the renovations as he's in Malaysia for work. Filming for Ferrymen will reportedly wrap in October.
“We can only communicate via phone and video calls. Many decisions have to be made by my wife. She has to film and take care of the family too. Seeing our new home slowly taking shape, I can't help but have complicated feelings about it. Of course, the new home will be beautiful, but having a partner who can share the ups and downs of life with me is the source of happiness for this new home,” he added.

“I don't know when it will get better. I hope I can move in before the end of the year,” the actor said over WhatsApp. According to 715, he and Jo and their two kids have been living in a rented condo, also in the east, since 2016.
“The old house was still big enough for us after our first child was born. However, Joanne knew that we would not be able to squeeze everyone in if we had a second kid. As I was worried that the lack of space would affect Joanne’s rest after giving birth, I decided to sell the house and rent a larger one first. We’ve always been on the hunt for a new home. After looking around for the past year, we decided to settle on this one,” Yuwu said.

While he declined to reveal how big and how many rooms their new home has, he assured us that it was “enough” for their daughter, five-year-old Baby Qi, and son, three-year-old Qi Didi, to “have their own rooms in the future”.
When we asked him what he liked about the new house, Yuwu said that it was “difficult to explain”.
“The house just gives me a kind of feeling… The house just makes me feel comfortable in it and feel like I want to live here. It is also spacious enough and has convenient access to public transport,” he explained.
