Pug Loses Eye After Injury At Pet Boarding & Grooming Shop, The Same One Where A Poodle Died After Allegedly Left Unattended

Pawsome Singapore is currently under investigation by NParks for a recent case of the death of a poodle. Now, another pet owner has stepped out to share her dog's painful experience that happened last year.

Pug Loses Eye After Injury At Pet Boarding & Grooming Shop, The Same One Where A Poodle Died After Allegedly Left Unattended

When property agent Renne Chow left her pug Rudy at pet boarder Pawsome Singapore last November, never did she expect he would sustain an injury which would result in the removal of his eye.

Although it's been close to a year since the incident, Renne has re-shared her story on Facebook in the wake of another recent alleged case of negligence involving Pawsome Singapore, which offers pet boarding, daycare and grooming services.. Buddy, a giant poodle, died in October after allegedly being left unattended during a grooming session while in distress. The case is currently under investigation by NParks.

Renne had boarded her dogs at Pawsome's former outlet at Joo Chiat, while Buddy's incident happened at Pawsome's current Tanjong Katong branch.

In the incident involving Rudy's eye injury last November, Renne said she was told by Pawsome Singapore that her other dog, a golden retriever named Rado, had caused the injury.

But she is not convinced. The pet boarder claimed that there was no CCTV footage of the incident between Rado and Rudy. “After the accident, they claimed that their CCTV was sent for repair for two weeks for the entire second level at their facility, and the handlers said they didn’t know about it,” she wrote.

Vets also confirmed that there were no bite or scratch marks on Rudy's eye. Rudy's injured eye has since been removed.

Renne also revealed that she had been using Pawsome Singapore’s services for two to three years for both dogs, prior to this incident. She questioned how her two dogs could remain close despite the alleged incident, even sharing recent pictures of them together.

Screenshots of conversations between Renne and Pawsome Singapore employees show the latter apologising and assuring her that they were revisiting and reviewing details to “identify gaps that may have contributed to the situation”.

Renne has since engaged a lawyer and has written to NParks’s Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) for them to investigate Pawsome Singapore on May 28 this year.

While Pawsome Singapore “insisted” they had done nothing wrong, they offered to cover 10 per cent of the medical fees “out of goodwill”.

Pawsome Singapore had also responded to media queries back then, reiterating that Rado had caused Rudy’s injury and they had refunded Renne’s unused credits.

“We have acted in good faith and in accordance with the information available to us at the time,” the spokesperson remarked.

Like Renne, netizens were still unconvinced, some slamming Pawsome Singapore’s sincerity, and others suspicious of the fact that there was a lack of CCTV footage.

Another wrote: “It's painful to know one died, another became blind. Words from Pawsome are cheap when one poodle baby’s precious life is taken, and another pup baby’s eyeball is lost. The daily pain in the parents' heart, nobody except the pet's parent has to endure. I hope your pup baby with one lost eye [has] recovered well”.

Renne Chow's pug, Rudy, sustained an eye injury at Pawsome Singapore.
This marks the second time Pawsome Singapore has faced accusations of negligence, following the death of Buddy, a giant poodle who died in October
