PSLE Stress Fest: Parents Admit They Feel Like They’re Taking the Exam Too

It is that time of the year again when primary six students face their biggest academic hurdle yet: the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE).

While kids are sweating over Maths problem sums, this writer stumbled upon the PSLE Discussion and Information Facebook group where it seems the parents are the ones putting on the real show.

The 40,000-strong community reveals just how stressful this period can be, with anxious mums and dads fretting over whether their child is prepared, and even scrambling to find answers to this year’s toughest Maths questions.

One parent even shared that her child’s classmates were in tears after struggling with the tough Mathematics paper.

“Why do we do this to our kids??” she asked.

But when another user posted, “Who wished they could put on their kid’s uniform and sit for the PSLE today?” we couldn’t help but laugh.

Netizens agreed, with many parents admitting they felt the same. “Why not? It was like I was prepping for the PSLE right alongside them,” one quipped.

Of course, it wasn’t all doom and gloom.

Some parents tried to lift spirits by sharing encouraging posts. One asked, “What is the first thing you’ll do or say when you see your child after the exam today?”

And honestly, that’s the right approach because no matter how tough the paper was, what matters most is praising them for giving it their best.

It is PSLE season and this Facebook group is active with numerous posts which breathes of fear and panic
One parent even wished they could wear their kid's school uniform and take the exam instead
Umm.. What is the point of asking when the exam is over?
A bright light in a sea of doom and gloom?
