Man Makes Police Report Claiming The Affairs Of Tan Chuan-Jin & Cheng Li Hui, Nicole Seah & Leon Perera Broke Safe Distancing Rules

On July 19, TikTok user Raymond Ng, who goes by gazythegreat on the platform, posted a video announcing that he’d made a police report, as he believes that local politicians Tan Chuan-Jin, Cheng Li Hui, Nicole Seah and Leon Perera had breached safe distancing measures during the Circuit Breaker period.

Raymond is the husband of Iris Koh, founder of anti-vaccine group Healing the Divide. Iris is currently facing multiple charges of conspiring to defraud the Ministry of Health (MOH), according to CNA.

Social gatherings, dining in at food establishments, and working from the office were all restricted to varying degrees during three time periods —  April 7 to June 1 2020, May 16 to June 2021, and July 22 to August 9 2021. The Circuit Breaker, with the most stringent measures, refers to the April 7 to June 1 2020 period. Restrictions were gradually lifted from August 10 2021.

On July 17, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong confirmed that former Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin and his fellow People’s Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament Cheng Li Hui had been having an affair since at least 2020, according to TODAY. Both Tan Chuan-Jin, 54, and Cheng Li Hui, 47, have since resigned from parliament and the PAP. Tan Chuan-Jin is married with two kids, while Cheng Li Hui is single.

In a press conference on July 19, The Worker’s Party (WP) secretary-general and Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh announced that WP senior members Leon Perera, 53, and Nicole Seah, 36, had resigned from the party following their admission that they had an affair. Pritam Singh shared that the affair, which started after the general election in 2020, had “stopped some time ago”, CNA reported.

Leon Perera, who is married with two kids, will be resigning as a Member of Parliament as well. Nicole is also married with two kids.

Getting the police involved.

In his TikTok video, the TikTok user said that as the four politicians were believed to be engaging in their separate affairs and "meeting each other during the Circuit Breaker", he believes that they’ve flouted the regulations, and urged for them to be “investigated, charged and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

“These three (sic) have admitted to having an affair during the time of the circuit breaker. It means that they have been meeting each other during the circuit breaker,” he said.

Well. To call this a new spin on the whole affair (affairs?) is probably an understatement. Just to be clear – no one has gone on record to  admit they had an affair “during the time of the circuit breaker”. Honestly, we’re not sure if he’s more indignant about the relationships, the political fallout or Circuit Breaker PTSD.

Raymond also attached a screenshot of his police report, which was filed online, in a separate TikTok video. In the report, he lists all four politicians as both the “suspects” and “victims”.

In the section meant for a brief description of the case, he wrote: “Tan Chuan Jin is having an affair with Cheng Li Hui. Leon Perera is having an affair with Nicole Seah. By doing so they are breaching Circuit Breaker’s rules during the time it was in force. They are to be investigated, charged and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”

Netizens were largely unimpressed by Raymond’s claims.

“How do you know they secretly meet up during circuit breaker? [You] witnessed it?” one netizen questioned, while another wrote: “Get a life dude”.

Others chastised Raymond for his “attention seeking” behaviour, commenting that Raymond should “stop wasting police officer time”.
