PM Lawrence Wong Jio-ed French President Macron For Char Kway Teow & Chee Cheong Fun At Lau Pa Sat

Like many Singaporeans hosting friends from overseas, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong did what most of us will do when French President Emmanuel Macron landed in Singapore for a state visit – supper at Lau Pa Sat.

On Thursday (May 29) shortly after 9pm, PM Wong and President Macron with their respective spouses Loo Tze Lui and Brigitte Macron were spotted jostling with the crowd at the iconic hawker centre for about 45 minutes.

Their presence naturally created a buzz with excited diners who were seen rushing to catch a glimpse.

Some lucky individuals even scored wefies with them while others were seen standing on tables and chairs for a better view.

A few people also included their loved ones and seen video-calling them as the two leaders walked past them.

While PM Wong and President Macron obviously couldn't find a seat, they still managed to try two local dishes – char kway teow and chee cheong fun.

Will there be a chance that President Macron will also get to sample other local delicacies here?

Say durian?

In a video posted to PM Wong’s IG, they later moved on to a fancy dinner hosted by him and his wife overlooking the Singapore River and the Marina Bay Sands.

With Singapore being President Macron’s last stop of his Asian tour, he is scheduled to meet PM Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, again today (May 30) before he leaves.
