NUS Student Scans QR Code In Toilet Claiming To Have Goss About A Cheating Guy Named Junwei, Turns Out To Be Something Else

If you are in the loo and see a piece of paper with a QR code claiming to contain juicy gossip, would you scan it?

For this unsuspecting student in the National University of Singapore, the answer is a resounding yes. 

Recently, Xiaohongshu user Miao Miao Dui Shui Da Jiao took to the platform to share what he saw in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences washroom.

A paper was pasted on the wall of a toilet cubicle and written on it was this sentence: "Jun Wei I know you have been cheating on me!!! You think I don't have evidence..."

Below the text was a QR code, which one would naturally assume contains the evidence of said Jun Wei's infidelity. 

"I was wondering who's so brutal and had to kaypoh about it," wrote Miao Miao, who proceeded to scan the code.

To his disappointment, Miao Miao did not get any juicy tea. 

Instead, the QR code redirected him to a change.org petition titled: "People's Petition For Moratorium on the Death Penalty".

A quick check on the website shows that the petition was set up in August 2024 and appeals to "halt all executions" of those put on a death row after being convicted of drug trafficking. It has been signed by 4, 677 individuals as of press time. 

Not quite what he expected.

According to some netizens, the notice can be found in a number of toilets around campus.

Other also felt bad for guys named Jun Wei.

There were also netizens who thought that the notices were put up by the IT department to warn students about phishing links, with some chastising Miao Miao for carelessly scanning an unknown QR code.
