Nick Teo Thought A Scammer Was Spying On Him After The Latter Told Him To "Jump Off The Building"
Scammers have many tactics up their sleeves these days, but this one that Mediacorp actor Nick Teo encountered takes feistiness to a whole new level.
Nick, who plays a mysterious stalker in new Ch 8 drama Highway To Somewhere, recently recalled a pretty scary encounter with a scammer.
The 36-year-old had received a call from a stranger asking if he was using a particular telco service and he replied "Yes" without giving much thought.
"He asked if I was facing any technical issues at that moment and it just so happened that something was wrong with my Internet. It was so spot on," he said.
The person then told Nick to check his modem and read out the code at the back of the device.
"Just as I was reading it, I realised something was wrong. Then I told him: 'Oh, no, I'm not using this telco service, I'm using another one'," he said.
Believe it or not, Nick's sharpness instantly pissed the scammer off.
"He kept quiet all of a sudden and it scared me too," said Nick.
"Then he told me: 'Do you see a window there?' and I happened to be facing the window. [Then the scammer told me]: 'Just jump off the building'."
Needless to say, the actor was extremely alarmed.
Nick's first thought? "I couldn’t help but think, where is he spying on me from?" he recounted, even demonstrating how flustered he was while looking around the house.
But, hey, at least Nick reacted quickly to stop himself from getting potentially scammed.
