Mark Lee And Joanne Peh Are Team Captains In New Live Streaming Competition… But Only 1 Out Of 8 Celeb Contestants Chose To Be On Joanne’s Team

Mark says he's "secretly pleased" with the outcome on the first episode of Mediacorp's new live streaming competition Streamers Go Live.

Mark Lee And Joanne Peh Are Team Captains In New Live Streaming Competition… But Only 1 Out Of 8 Celeb Contestants Chose To Be On Joanne’s Team

Mediacorp’s new reality competition, Streamers Go Live, sees two teams going up against each other in a fierce battle to achieve the highest sales while hosting e-commerce live streams.

And the team captains are none other than Mark Lee and Joanne Peh... though we're not sure if it's going to be a fair fight.

Mark, as you would know by now, has a booming side hustle selling things online. Joanne, on the other hand, doesn't seem to have any experience as a live streamer... as far as we know.

However, according to Mark, Joanne isn't one to be taken lightly as she’s "very bright up here,” he said while pointing to his temple.

And the eight local personalities they are mentoring are: Ah Girls Go Army stars Yang Guang Ke Le and Xixi Lim, Sunny Side Up actor Shawn Thia, influencers Isabelle Quek, Tai Tai Chan and Das DD, model Paul Lee and Ah Boy Maxi Lim.

Here's what we know about Streamers Go Live:

After being split into two teams, the contestants will be tasked to host three two-hour live streams over the course of the next three months and compete to sell the most things.

Viewers will be able to interact with the teams via live-chat and buy items should they feel convinced to do so.

Basically, viewers get to determine who wins these challenges 'cos not only will the contestants be judged on their sales tactics and flair, their viewership and engagement rates will be taken into account too.

Those invested can also keep tabs on their journey as short clips documenting the teams’ progress will be posted on meWATCH and Mediacorp's YouTube channel daily.
Xixi is Team Joanne

Mark and Joanne were the first to arrive on set. They were then ushered into a room to observe the contestants, who were told to talk about their strengths before picking who they wanted as their captain.

Remember how we mentioned that Mark is an expert when it comes to live streaming?

Guess it wouldn’t really come as a surprise that out of the eight contestants, only one – Xixi – chose to be on Joanne’s team.

Xixi's reason? 'Cos they are both "nu shen" or “goddesses” in Mandarin.

Upon hearing that, Mark snarkily said "ni shen jin bing", which means “You're crazy” in Mandarin.

Das has got his eye on the prize

Das, who said his strength lies in how he can speak four languages, had no trouble explaining why he picked Mark.

“I think Joanne Peh is more of an actress, so I don’t know if there’s anything regarding live streaming and hosting that I can learn from her,” he said, adding that while he think she's "impressive", she's not the right pick for the purposes of the show.

"Please make sure this is edited into the show, okay," he reminded the producers.

The clip ended with Mark saying that while he did think the results had done "some damage" to Joanne's confidence, he was "secretly pleased"  with how it turned out.

So…  does this mean that Joanne has lost the fight before it’s even started?
