A Singapore victim reportedly lost at least S$4.9 million after joining what appeared to be a Zoom conference call involving Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and other government officials — but police say the meeting was actually created using deepfake AI technology. According to the Singapore Police Force, scammers allegedly used WhatsApp messages, fake government emails, NDAs and AI-generated Zoom footage to convince the victim to transfer funds linked to an “urgent” geopolitical matter involving the Strait of Hormuz.
