Wait, seriously?!
Marcus Chin’s Giving Away Holiday Packages Worth S$6.5K To Two Fans Who Vote For Him To Win Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste Star Award

Okay, Marcus Chin is pulling out the big guns here. The Love 972 DJ and two-time Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste award winner declared on his radio show The Breakfast Quartet that everyone who casts at least 10 votes for him will be entered into a lucky draw to win a holiday package for two.

Last year, Marcus shared in an interview with local Chinese media outlet Shin Min Daily News that he would be giving out free grilled fish worth S$46.80 from the East Coast outlet of the grilled fish chain he co-owns, Tian Tian You Yu

But of course, you had to fulfil a couple of conditions before tucking into free fish. Apart from having to call in to make reservations, you had to dine in groups of three, with everyone required to have cast their vote for Marcus. Oh, and you had to upload a picture of your meal on social media too. But hey, free fish is still free fish at the end of the day, right?

This year, Marcus is upping the stakes, and local Chinese media outlet 8world spoke to him to find out more.

He's a winner.

As it turns out, he decided to upgrade his promotion since there are even more artistes (39 this year!) fighting for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste award.

He also shared more details about the holiday packages that he will be giving out. The top prize is a 7D5N trip to South Korea for two, which has an estimated value of S$4,000, while the second prize is a 8D7N trip to Shanghai for two, worth S$2,500. And yes, there’s still fish - both winners will get a S$100 dining voucher to Tian Tian You Yu as well.

Marcus let on that both tour packages are sponsored, and that his only expense is the $200 dining vouchers that he’s giving away.

Oh, and yes, he will still be giving away the tour packages even if he does not make it into the Top 10.

As for the specifics of his giveaway, Marcus said that he intends to hold a livestream after the Star Awards (which falls on April 9, by the way), to announce the winners, though the exact date is not confirmed yet.

However, he did not share more info about how to enter the giveaway, and urged those who were interested to take part to keep a lookout on his socials for more details.

Dreaming of a holiday.

Even though he’s really sweetening the deal for those who vote for him, Marcus admitted that he’s only “50% confident” of winning a trophy this year.

“Only diehard fans of mine will log in every day to vote 10 times. Those who like me might not necessarily be diehard fans, so I might lose out on some of their votes,” he said.

Marcus went on to share that his ultimate goal is to make it to the ranks of the All-Time Favourite Artistes, quipping that this is why he’s sparing no effort to canvass for votes. He's eight wins away from becoming an All-Time Favourite Artiste.

“Although it’s not easy, and practically an impossible task, I’ll still work hard to get votes. If I only sit at home and do nothing, do you think that’s okay? You have to let everyone see how strong your desire is, that way, they’ll feel like the vote they cast is worthwhile,” he said.

Apart from the Top 10 Most Popular award, Marcus and his fellow The Breakfast Quartet co-hosts Dennis ChewMark Lee, and Chen Biyu are also up for the Best Radio Programme award, which they’ve won for the past two years.

When asked if he thinks they’ll win the award again, Marcus replied that he’s pretty confident that they will, and that the quartet plans to hold an event to thank their fans if they emerge victorious again.
