In 2016, the actress knocked down a stationary motorbike with her black BMW in a Clementi car park. The issue blew up in the media after it was reported that she had asked the owner of the motorbike, "Do you know who I am?".
Rui En later said it was a misunderstanding and that she was simply trying to convey that she lives there and so wasn't going to run away.
The motorbike owner also claimed that Rui En “smelled of alcohol” but the courts later found that there was “no element of drink driving involved". The actress was eventually charged with careless driving, and fined S$700.
