Lee Teng & Wife Have Changed Helpers 4 Times In A Year; Previous Helpers Stole From Them, Abused Their Dog & More
Finding the right domestic helper can sometimes be a real challenge.
Local host Lee Teng and his wife, Gina Lin, have had their fair share of misfortunes when it comes to hiring helpers too.
The 41-year-old Left Profile star and Gina, 32, admitted that they seem to lack luck in this area, and elaborated more in a recent episode on their Youtube channel.
Believe it or not, the couple, who welcomed their baby boy, Ellison, in July this year, has changed four helpers in one year. But just what kind of nightmare helpers have they met so far?
For a start, one helper not only stole money but was also violent towards their pet dog.
"[She even] did it right in front of me," said Gina.
“Our dog, Bali, is old and sometimes misses the pee pad when going to the toilet. Once, the helper followed Bali into the bathroom, saw that it had missed again, and impatiently kicked it into the pee pad."
Needless to say, that was a dealbreaker for Gina.
Another helper unfortunately suffered from severe eczema.
Even though they replaced all the household cleaning products with organic, natural ones, and prepared gloves especially for her, the helper's condition did not improve.
Her bleeding wounds even began to affect their furkids, and the couple eventually had no choice but to let her go.
Later, they found a kind-hearted helper and thought they had finally met the right one.
However, she had a habit of holding in her pee, and refused to see a doctor even when she fell ill. She also did not inform Lee Teng and Gina about her medical situation — they only found out after the she had to be rushed to the hospital due to severe kidney infection.
Although the couple wanted to keep her, she chose to resign, worrying that her recurring illness would trouble them.
Lastly, they also encountered a “love-struck” helper. “She comes here to find boyfriends,” Lee Teng revealed.
Lee Teng and Gina even joked that they have so many helper stories that they could make a five-episode series out of them.
Jokes aside, because they have changed helpers so often in a short period of time, Lee Teng and Gina almost got blacklisted and lost their right to hire domestic workers.
"[The authorities] might think you're a difficult employer... and might think the issue is with [you]," explained Lee Teng.
Gina then added that under such circumstances, the employers might have to undergo counselling and training before they're allowed to hire again.
Though it wasn't revealed if they have since found the right helper, Lee Teng could only make light of their plight while looking back on the whole ordeal.
"Hiring a helper is really like opening a blind box, it's full of surprises," he quipped.
