She Is Irreplaceable: Kym Ng’s Absence On The Sheng Siong Show Has TikTokers Declaring Their Love For The Host
Don’t worry, Kym will be back to chant “bai bei” on the show again in a few weeks.
Who says young people don't watch local shows?
They seem to love The Sheng Shiong Show, which appears to be a hit among the Gen Z crowd. At least on TikTok.
So viewers were surprised to see Kym not hosting the show last Saturday (May 27).
A TikTok user posted a video expressing her shock, exclaiming: “Y’all, I think Kym Ng had enough of 'bai bei' [Mandarin for 'a hundredfold', which the show’s hosts and live audience chant as they root for the lucky winner of the week to choose a multiplier for their prize]. She left The Sheng Shiong Show?”
In the video, the user shows a quick shot of Mediacorp actress Denise Camilla Tan, 30, filling in for Kym that week.
Fellow TikTok users were just as taken aback as the original poster.
“LITERALLY MY REACTION YESTERDAY,” one exclaimed, while another wrote: “Officially starting a petition for [Kym Ng] to be back.”
“NAHHH she is irreplaceable,” yet another netizen added.
Others attempted to come up with reasons Kym was absent, with some sharing that Kym might be on holiday, or might have had some other filming commitment.
One cheeky netizen even wrote: “Durian season. She took leave to eat durians.”
But seriously, if you’re worried, don’t be.
According to netizens, it was mentioned at the start of last week’s show that Kym will be absent from hosting duties for a few weeks.
So rest assured, she’ll definitely be back soon to chant “bai bei” with everyone.
