Joshua Tan Marries Doctor Girlfriend At Raffles Hotel; Tears Up While Saying Wedding Vows

Ah Boys To Men star Joshua Tan, 32, and his influencer-turned-doctor fiancée, Zoen Tay, 25, are now married.

The couple, who got engaged in 2019, tied the knot in a gorgeous wedding ceremony on Boxing Day (Dec 26),at Raffles Hotel, and here’s what went on that day.

Mediacorp's bite-sized entertainment and lifestyle series #JustSwipeLah managed to speak to the newlyweds, as well as some of their celeb guests.

Prior to their big walk-in, host Seow Sin Nee spoke to Joshua, who revealed that he has yet to see Zoen in her bridal gown.

While he steadfastly insisted that he won't shed a tear when he finally lays eyes on her… Well, when the walk-in finally happened, let's just say that there was nary a dry eye in the house.

Apart from a rap performance by Joshua and his Ah Boys To Men bros, Maxi Lim, Tosh Zhang, Noah Yap, Charlie Lim and Bunz, local singer and influencer Aden Tan represented the bride's side by putting on a hilarious performance as Lin Da Lang from the 2009 Taiwanese idol drama, Hi My Sweetheart.

Joshua and Zoen dated long distance for five years though it wasn’t exactly long-distance after all.

Zoen revealed that Joshua, who’s an Australian citizen, frequently flew to Australia to visit Zoen who was studying medicine at UNSW Sydney.

She graduated earlier this year.

And anyway, it turns out the couple spent so much time together that the longest they’ve ever been apart was just six weeks. 

Oh, and here’s how they met — at a muay thai gym, after being introduced to each other by Maxi, who introduced himself as the couple’s wingman while speaking to Just Swipe Lah.

The wedding was emceed by a friend, as well as actor Shane Pow. Both Joshua and Shane graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where they studied for a diploma in Mass Communications.

As it turns out, Joshua was “the first friend” Shane made in polytechnic, and they’ve been buddies for over 10 years.

Local celebs Aileen Tan, Felicia Chin, Ya Hui, Benjamin Kheng, Sonia Chew, Richard Low and Chen Xiuhuan were also present at the wedding. Jack Neo, who directed the Ah Boys To Men movie series, as well as Irene Ang, who played Joshua’s mum in the movies, were also present.

Irene described Joshua as someone “who really loves Zoen” and wished them a marriage full of “eternal love and bliss”, while Jack urged for the good-looking couple to have a baby soon, as it’ll “be a waste” if they don’t have kids.

And finally, the tear-jerking part — Joshua’s wedding vows to Zoen, that caused him to choke up with tears midway through.

“I want to be the man that you’ll always be able to lean on, and ultimately, be everything that you’ll ever need, from now on till the very…" Joshua said, trailing off as he tried to hold back his tears.

Then, after a quick pause to collect himself, the groom continued: ...until the day that we pass from this life.""
