Homegrown singer JJ Lin turns 43 today (Mar 27) and earlier this week, he celebrated his birthday with a party to remember.

What was supposed to be a simple gathering with friends turned into a heartwarming surprise.

In a video JJ shared on Instagram yesterday (Mar 26), his mum is seen making a surprise appearance at a Taipei hotpot restaurant where the 'Happily, Painfully After' singer was enjoying a meal with friends.

"It was meant to just be a simple birthday dinner with my friends in Taipei, but I guess my mum had other plans,” he wrote.

"She flew in to give me a surprise, and got everyone to play along."

The look of surprise on JJ's face when he spotted his mum was priceless.

So sweet!

Netizens as well as fellow celebs like Dennis Chew and Pan Lingling flooded the comments section with birthday wishes.

But what caught everyone’s attention was a comment by pal and Mandopop king Jay Chou, asking, "What gift do you want from me?”

To which JJ cheekily replied, “I want your Ferrari!”

We wonder if he's referring to this limited edition Ferrari which is said to cost US$2.2mil (S$3mil).

Netizens had a laugh at the playful exchange between the singers and one even humorously chimed in, "It's my birthday too! I want a car, please!"

That makes two of us.
