AI might be developing faster than we can catch up but after seeing what it recently came up with, we think it's safe to say it's still a work in progress.
On Monday (Oct 6), Mediacorp's talent management arm The Celebrity Agency shared on their socials a few AI generated photos in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The series of pics saw seven Mediacorp actors — Jeremy Chan, Brandon Wong, James Seah, Jeffrey Xu, Pierre Png, Richard Low and Ben Yeo — transforming into Chang'E, aka the Goddess of the Moon.
"The 7 goddesses of TCA light up the Mid-Autumn Festival! Can you guess who they are?" read the caption.
While some of the guys did look surprisingly convincing as 'goddesses' (*cough, Jeremy, cough*), what shocked everyone was what the AI filter did to Jeffrey, who ended up looking like a spitting image of another person.
Who? Mediacorp host Quan Yifeng.
Honestly, even this writer questioned if it was just her who saw the likeness at first. But a quick scroll through the comments quickly proved otherwise. Even Jeffrey himself agreed.
The actor initially exclaimed in the comments that "[it] can't be" him in the photo. But when a netizen replied Jeffrey to say he "look[s] like Quan Yifeng," Jeffrey had the most hilarious response.
"I think it's Feng jie too," Jeffrey replied.
But there's at least one person who doesn't really see the resemblance.
When 8days.sg reached out to the actor's wife, ex-Mediacorp actress Felicia Chin, she tells us they were at her imaging for upcoming Mediacorp drama Shield of Light when Jeffrey showed her the amusing photo.
"I viewed the pic from far, he asked me to guess who that is. I said: 'Isn’t that you?'," she says, adding that she didn't think Jeffrey resembled Yifeng at all at first glance.
The similarity only hit Feli after she scrutinised the pic.
"Hahah, on closer look, he said: 'Don’t you think this looks like Feng Jie', I have to agree there was some resemblance," she quips.
Now that she can't unsee it, will Feli start thinking of Yifeng every time she looks at her husband? Thankfully, the actress assures that she will not. Sort of.
"Let me take another look later," she laughs.
It would be really weird, and creepy, if she does, wouldn't it?
