Jeffrey Xu Was Celebrating His Mum-In-Law’s Birthday In A Sushi Restaurant When He Found Out He Won Best Supporting Actor At The Asian Television Awards

987 jock Sonia bagged the Best Presenter award for hosting itsclarityco podcast series Men, Explain. 

After receiving her award in a gorgeous princess-style dress, Sonia took the chance to thank her "support crew" in her IG stories, and promised more updates as she was too "speechless" after the win.

With Sonia in Manila was her beau, investment banker Jeremy Sng, who appeared as a guest on an episode of Men, Explain.

He expressed just how happy he was for her, writing: "Your hard work is recognised. Well deserved! So proud of you bae!"

Jeffrey, on the other hand, was in Japanese restaurant Yoyogi at Amoy Street celebrating his mum-in-law's birthday when it was announced that he had won. 

The actor snagged the award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as a conniving drug abuser in The Takedown. 

Felicia Chin was super proud of her hubby, and posted a series of stories documenting his reaction when he first found out about his win.

Watching the show from his phone, Jeffrey, looking absolutely stunned, jumped up in joy when his name was announced.

Actress-host Eswari, who looked gorgeous in a brocade dress, won Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Tamil drama series Fearless Heart.

Among the actresses Eswari beat to clinch the award were Rebecca Lim, who was nominated for This Land Is Mine, Malaysian actress Jojo Goh for Sisters Stand Tall, as well as TVB stars Rosina Lam and Selena Lee. 

"With a heart full of gratitude, faith & love," wrote Eswari in her caption.

Also spotted was local actress Jae Liew, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in 128 Circle. 

She didn't forget to cheer for Eswari when the latter went on stage.

"I told you you would get it," said Jae.

Star Search alum Zhai Siming and 933 DJ Zhong Kunhua were also at the event. Siming was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Genie Cup, and Kunhua was nominated for Best Presenter for his work on SPOP Wave!.
