James Seah Reveals What He'd Do If He Could See The Future: "It Might Give Me A Chance To Correct Choices I Might Later Regret"

For some, life's greatest thrill is not knowing what's around the corner. But for others, the chance to glimpse the future is simply impossible to resist.

Ask Mediacorp actor James Seah, and it seems he'd choose the certainty of knowing what lies ahead.

In upcoming Mediacorp drama Sooner Or Later, the 35-year-old plays the younger brother of Hai Long (Jeremy Chan), a disillusioned salesman who gained the ability to foresee the future through his dreams after surviving a lightning strike.

The 20-episode fantasy drama is set to premiere in January 2027.

One of Hai Long's dreams reveals that, in order to save his wife, both he and his younger brother will die in a car accident. He then tries his best to alter the course of events, only for things to move closer towards the outcome he's trying to escape.

As you can tell, the ability to foresee the future comes with its own burdens.

Even so, if given the choice, it seems James would still rather know what lies ahead.

In a recent interview with Zaobao.sg, the actor posited that, while he believes some things in life may be predetermined, the journey is nevertheless in our own hands.

He also said that fate may set the direction, but how far we ultimately go depends on our choices, hard work, and planning.

If he really had the ability to know the future in advance, James would most want to know the kind of person he would become at the end of his life and the sort of life he would be living.

"Knowing that might help me better understand how I should live now, how I should make each decision, and even give me the chance to correct choices that I might later regret," he said.

He also hopes to have the chance to alter the future if he could.

"If what I foresee isn't what I had hoped for, I would first do my best to change it," he mused.

"But if, in the end, it still couldn't be changed, I would learn to accept it with grace and find growth and inspiration through the experience."
