Ex Actress Ivy Lee & Her Family Were In Singapore For A Short Trip; And She Managed To Surprise Her Showbiz Pals

Spot a familiar face on Instagram recently? Chen Hanwei’s recent post on Instagram had many of us doing a double-take 'cos… isn’t that former Mediacorp actress Ivy Lee, 49, right there beside Hanwei, 53, Hong Huifang, 62, Yvonne Lim, 46, and Zheng Geping, 58?

And then there was Hanwei’s caption: “Welcome back. A family reunion.”

Wait, what?! Could it be that the UK-based Ivy has moved back to Singapore?

Ivy has been based in England for the last six years.

She left Mediacorp in 2007, and moved to Hongkong two years later with her Hongkong director husband Raymond Choy, before moving to England in 2017. The couple has four kids together — daughter Mikki, 26, twin sons Nik and Dash, 18, and youngest daughter Leah, 14.

Unfortunately, it turns out that Ivy and her family sans Mikki were merely back in Singapore for a short visit and to settle some personal matters.

8days.sg spoke to Yvonne, who revealed that Ivy had kept her trip back a secret and that she surprised the group who had met up for dinner at Geping and Huifang's home last Friday (Feb 17).

According to Yvonne, she was having lunch with Geping, Huifang and Hanwei on Valentine's Day and Ivy contacted Huifang that night to tell her that she's actually back in town after seeing their pictures on social media.

"Huifang-jie and I were actually talking about visiting her in England this year so for her to turn up means she's going to have a long life," laughed Yvonne, referencing an old Chinese belief that if someone shows up when you talk about them, they will have longevity.

"[Ivy] told Huifang-jie her plan to surprise me and Hanwei," said Yvonne. "But we sort of knew something was up when Huifang invited us to her house because she is not very good at keeping secrets (laughs)."

In a separate interview, Geping told 8world that Ivy is used to going to his place for catch-up sessions with her former colleagues every time she returns to Singapore.

“They returned to England yesterday (Feb 19)," said Geping, adding: “It’s a rare reunion, after so many years, everyone’s still the same, and all our kids have grown up in the blink of an eye!”
