Star Awards is just around the corner. Come April 19, local celebs will gather for the annual ceremony, hoping to take home a trophy — and of course, to dazzle the audience in stunning outfits that match the glitz and glamour of the big night.

For many, the hunt for the perfect Star Awards outfit is already underway, and that includes local actress-comedian and Fly Entertainment head honcho Irene Ang.

The 57-year-old, one of the 59 nominees for the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes, recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes peek at her search for the ideal 'fit on Instagram. But not quite in the way many would expect.

Sitting in her car, Irene shared that she had just gone to Mediacorp for her Star Awards fitting.

"There's an outfit that the stylist, the head of the wardrobe department, has chosen for me," she revealed.

However, there was a small problem. "To fit into that beautiful outfit, I need to lose at least two inches in my waist, and about maybe 5kg," she continued.

With just a month left, Irene has to decide whether to shed the inches or find another outfit.

"I'm just thinking of taking up the challenge lah. Is it realistic, is it possible?" she mused, before asking her followers for tips and suggestions on how to shed weight within such a tight timeline.

Irene’s post received plenty of positive feedback, with netizens recommending cardio activities like boxing, pickleball, and running. Others suggested eating clean or trying specialised diets such as keto or protein-based plans.

Some encouraged her to choose an outfit that’s comfortable and fits well, reminding her not to make things too difficult for herself just for one night.

When actress and content creator Regene Lim suggested they start running together, Irene, in her signature humorous style, replied: "Walk can?"

Looks like we’ll have to wait and see if Irene will be rocking that very special outfit on the big night.

Catch the Star Awards 2026 Backstage LIVE on April 19 (Sunday), streaming from 3.30pm to 10.30pm on mewatch and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.

The Walk of Fame takes place from 5pm to 6.30pm, and will air on mewatch, Ch 8, Ch U, and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.

This will be followed by the Star Awards 2026 Live Show from 7pm to 10pm, broadcast on mewatch, Ch 8, Ch U, and the Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel.
