Insta-Buzz: What The Stars Were Up To This Week

A little over a week ago, Jeffrey told 8days.sg that he recently bought a resale condo in the Bendemeer area. Then, last Tuesday, the Shanghai native showed off a picture of the keys to his new pad and proudly announced that after 10 years in Singapore, he has “finally found a place to call home”.

“I will continue working hard and I believe that the next 10 years will be even better!” he declared.

Congrats, Jeffrey! Can’t wait for the house tour once renovations are finished.

Speaking of renovations (and is it just us, or have there been a lot of those recently?), it looks like the former Mediacorp actress, her husband, and their daughter are set to move to a new crib, and the remodelling process is already in full swing.

“I am grateful that this hole in the wall is now an invaluable space and will become the heartbeat & wondrous canvas of our next home,” she gushed. “I am grateful that my dear little family will have a safe and happy space to move [into] soon…”

Yup, there’s another celeb house makeover going on, and it’s actually not too far from Carole’s place, judging from Joey’s earlier post referring to the former as her “neighbour”.

On Thursday, Joey shared a before-and-after collage of her new kitchen, which she called her “playground”.

“Having too many boys at home, I decided to steal a corner to build something that belong to me ONLY. Why not a girly floor tiles for a dream kitchen — for the only ‘QUEEN’ at home. Sorry boysssss. Mummy is baking (sic),” wrote the former Mediacorp actress, who has three sons.

Joey previously opened up about the struggles of doing renovations during the pandemic, which included cost increases and manpower shortage, so it’s nice to see that things are coming along nicely.

The Qis recently went on their very first staycation as a family — actually, it was 715’s first time ever — and boy did they do it in style, choosing to check into Marina Bay Sands’ swanky Sands Suite, as Joanne revealed in a reply to a follower’s comment (P/S: We checked the website and that room is priced from S$1,299 a night).

The getaway also gave the couple plenty of opportunities to snap and share tons of lovely pics of their elusive two kids, especially when they went up to the hotel’s iconic pool. Now we’re seriously craving a staycay of our own as well.

Has it really been 23 years since we saw Sharon aka Lulu and Darren aka Ah Hock in the iconic 1998 staging of local musical classic Beauty World? And it looks like we’ll get to see them working together again, judging from Sharon’s pics of her hanging out with Darren and a camera crew.

Chantalle posted a clip of her doing a COVID-19 test on herself and made us chuckle with how cutely she sneezed at the end. (P/S: Her result was negative.)

Stef turned 43 on Friday and, like everyone else during this period, was unable to go out and have a fancy celebration.

Posting two photos of herself with a cake (and seriously not looking a day over 30), she wrote some words of encouragement, saying that she is “being sad and losing sleep” with everyone else, but that we will all get through this together.

“Today, I will be staying home with my children and partner. I have received everyone’s blessings, and I hope you will receive mine. Staying safe is good enough.”

The billionaire heiress officially entered her 30s on Friday and her wish for herself this year is to “become wiser, stronger, smarter” and “independent”. Would you look at the epic number of flowers, presents, and cakes she received, though!?

Becks has a habit of posting really old photos of her family members on special occasions, but they’re always such a delight to look at. To mark her older brother’s birthday on Thursday, she shared these #throwback shots of her family when he turned two (and when she was “barely” a year old).

Jamie had to go for minor surgery recently and she had this handwritten note from her 10-year-old daughter Alysia waiting for her at home after the procedure. The message contained strict instructions for the former DJ to rest, which Aly was passing to her from Jamie’s mother.

“Nai nai told me to tell you this because she said that you won’t listen to her. Hee hee!” the girl wrote, much to the amusement of Jamie, who said that this “speaks volumes of the intricacies of mother-daughter relationships”.

Also receiving a note from her daughter was Nurul, except this time, eight-year-old Shaista went a little more high-tech and decided to type and print out her loving message for her mummy, whose birthday was on Friday.

“Putting it here because she is extremely sweet and I need to remember this the next time she annoys me,” Nurul quipped in her caption.

The murder of a 13-year-old boy at River Valley High School has left the whole of Singapore in shock, and the Yes 933 DJ decided to dedicate a message of comfort and encouragement to her older son Luke to reassure him that there’s no need to be afraid.

Justin Ang and Vernon A. of Class 95 duo The Muttons have met and interviewed tons of celebrities over the years as part of their job, but it looks like they’re truly tech fanboys at heart.

On Thursday morning, the pair got to speak to none other than Apple head honcho Tim Cook, and they reported that their hearts were “still pumping quite fast” after their virtual chat, which was done to mark 40 years of Apple in Singapore.

“Thanks Tim (we go on a first name basis now) for giving us this exclusive with you. And that plate of carrot cake is waiting for you the next time you’re back,” they wrote. Remember to jio us!
