Can you move someone else’s car if it’s blocking the road? 🚗💪 A viral video from Malaysia recently showed a group of men taking matters into their own hands after a badly parked car appeared to prevent a bus from passing. Their solution? Physically lifting the car and shifting it closer to the kerb. 😭 It might have cleared the road, but what if the same thing happened in Singapore? If someone parks illegally or leaves their vehicle obstructing traffic, does that give members of the public the right to move it themselves? Not quite. Even if a vehicle appears to be illegally parked, that doesn’t automatically mean you should start pushing, lifting or arranging your own tow. If you damage someone else’s vehicle in the process, you could potentially find yourself responsible for the damage. And no, the absence of a yellow line doesn’t necessarily mean someone can park however they like — a vehicle can still cause an obstruction or undue inconvenience to other road users. So what should you do instead? For illegally parked vehicles and parking-related obstructions on public roads in Singapore, the safer option is to report the vehicle to LTA through the appropriate enforcement channels or the OneService app, rather than going full Hulk and moving it yourself. 💪🚗 Here’s what you need to know about illegal parking, cars blocking traffic and whether you can move someone else’s vehicle in Singapore — because sometimes it’s better to leave the deadlifts for the gym. 😭 #8dayssg #8dayssgtrending #SGTikTok #SingaporeCars #RoadSafety
