Insta-Buzz: What The Stars Were Up To This Week
Here are some of our favourite snaps from the past week.

In this week’s social media roundup, we’ve got biker and bikini babes, the usual throwbacks, a nostalgia-inducing C-pop reunion, and a reminder that Christmas is just around the corner. So fast?!

Julie Tan just got her basic motorcycle licence
Who knew the actress had biker babe ambitions? On November 12, Julie happily announced that she had obtained her Class 2B motorcycle licence, which is the most basic type of licence. She’ll be able to sit for the more advanced Class 2A licence next year, and then her Class 2 licence the year after that, which will allow her to ride all types of bikes. Ride safe, Julie!

Xiang Yun paid tribute to the late Chen Meiguang
Local veteran actress Chen Meiguang passed away on November 8 at the age of 87 after suffering a brain haemorrhage, and Xiang Yun took to Instagram to pay tribute to her “senior”, “teacher”, and “comrade in arms”. “Dear Meiguang jie, I will never forget your patience when you taught me how to sing, and the joy we had filming together. I will always miss you.”

Pregnant Liv Lo showed off her “beer belly”
In case anyone missed the news, Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding and his wife Liv are currently expecting their first child together. The hot mum-to-be, who is about 20 weeks along, shared a photo of herself in a bikini earlier this week, with her bump in full view.
Taiwanese-American host Janet Hsieh, who is only few weeks ahead of Liv in her own pregnancy, couldn’t help but make a few comparisons to her own body, commenting, “Your belly is still so flat!! I already look like I'm carrying around a watermelon (sic)”, to which Liv replied, “I look like I have a beer belly.” Guess the fitness guru’s still trying to get used to not having perfectly taut abs.

Three-quarters of Fahrenheit (and an F4 member) were reunited
Former Fahrenheit member Calvin Chen turned 40 on November 10 and had a birthday party with his friends, including his ex-bandmates Wu Chun and Jiro Wang, as well as F4’s Vanness Wu, sending 2000s C-pop fans into a nostalgic frenzy.
Noticeably absent was Aaron Yan, but that shouldn’t really come as a surprise given his candid confession about their friendship (or lack thereof).

James Seah and his fiancée moved into their (temporary) new place
Nope, the engaged couple’s BTO flat, which still needs at least more three years to complete, didn’t just magically spring up from the ground. These cosy photos were actually taken in an apartment that they are renting while waiting for their main home to be ready. Might as well start getting used to living together, right?

Sharon Au shared a throwback from her SQ Girl days
And she still fits into the very same uniform after over 25 years, by the way. Earlier this week, Sharon took to Instagram to wish a happy 52nd anniversary to Singapore Airlines’ iconic sarong kebaya, which is the longest serving airline uniform and was designed by French couturier Pierre Balmain.
The former air stewardess also included an old pic of herself at her graduation ceremony in 1994, where she was given the Best Trainee award. “This marks another milestone in the friendship between France and Singapore,” said the star, who has been based in Paris since 2018.

Takuya Kimura’s daughters shared adorable throwbacks on his birthday
Kimutaku’s two girls, models Koki and Cocomi, did a lot of digging through old photos and shared quite a number of them — all very cute — on the Japanese icon’s 48th birthday on November 13. In her tribute, Koki added that she agrees with people who say that she will have a hard time finding a husband ‘cos having him as her dad sets some ridiculously high expectations. Can’t say she’s wrong.

Meet Mark Lee and his fellow Golden Horse Awards nominees
Now this is one epic group photo. The local comedian, who as we all know by now will be proudly flying the Singapore flag as at this year’s Golden Horse Awards, earned a spot in this illustrious gathering of his fellow nominees thanks to his nod for Best Actor. Although it’s likely that he was Photoshopped in since he is still on his 14-day quarantine in Taiwan, it’s still a really cool thing.

Tosh Zhang shared a throwback of his 18-year-old self
Don’t laugh at the Ah Boys to Men star, okay, we all uploaded photos like this to Facebook in the past — mirror, tiny camera phone, questionable fashion and all. But not all of us had such a lush mane of hair (likely inspired by the follicly blessed boybanders of the 2000s), so we can’t blame Tosh for loving it and wanting to show it off.

Aaron Aziz said his last goodbyes to his mother
On November 9, the actor shared this heartbreaking photo of himself looking at the casket of his late mum, who passed away two days earlier from kidney problems and a heart attack, according to local Malay media. Aaron and his daughters reportedly rushed back to Singapore from Malaysia, where he is currently based, earlier this month.
“Love you Mummy. Forever [and] ever…” he wrote. Our condolences to Aaron and his family.

Looks like Huang Jinglun’s trying to turn his kid into a Liverpool fan as well
Wouldn’t it be funny if ‘Little Lun’ grew up to support an entirely different soccer team, or not even be interested in the sport at all? In any case, he looks utterly adorable in twinning jerseys with his dad.

Yao Wenlong kept a smile on his face despite having poor business
With the conditional movement control order (CMCO) in effect in most parts of Malaysia, business at the actor’s usually very popular restaurant in JB has unsurprisingly been hit hard… again. It’s a dire situation for any boss, but Yaolong is not going to let this get him down.
“It’s the third day of CMCO and although there aren’t many customers, I have to smile through this. I’m smiling. Really!” he wrote, next to a picture of himself in a mask. Okay, we trust you.

Ann Kok has another baby to spoil
We still find it hard to wrap our heads around the fact that the youthful-looking actress is a grandaunt, and one of her nieces recently popped again — say hello to Ethan, Ann’s newest grandnephew. And check out his hair!

Jeanette Aw slammed the unauthorised use of her image
The unethical practice of using celebrities’ photos to sell products without permission is unfortunately not a new phenomenon. One recent ‘victim’ is Jeanette, who took to her Stories to call out an unnamed company for “using [her] photo, keying in an extra something, then boosting the post as if [she were] part of [their] campaign”. Tsk, what were they thinking!?

Stefanie Sun is in love with her Christmas tree
It doesn’t quite feel like it given the kind of year we’ve been having so far, but the Christmas season is soon upon us, and here is the singer to remind us all with her virtually decorated tree. We’re sure she put up real ornaments later, right?
