Huang Biren's Daughter Says It’s Not Her Fault If She Doesn’t Do Well For PSLE As The Actress Has Been Too Busy With Work

It's why Biren, who stars in Mediacorp drama Your World in Mine, is not taking on any new projects for the rest of the year.

Huang Biren is really good at playing a mum on screen and it apparently carries over to her relationships with her younger co-stars as well.

There must be a reason Shane Pow and Julie Tan still call her "mummy" years after they acted as her kids in 2014 drama Three Wishes, right?

The 53-year-old actress can now be seen in hit Mediacorp drama Your World In Mine, in which she stars as the selfless mum of three kids, played by Hong Ling, Zong Zijie and Richie Koh, whose character is intellectually disabled.

In a recent interview with 8world, Biren shared that her new onscreen kids have very different personalities in real life.

"Hong Ling's quite cool and it might be quite difficult to enter her 'world', but once you get to know her she's easy to talk to," said Biren, who added that she's similar to Hong Ling personality-wise.

On the other, she said "Zijie is very friendly and chatty, and would often treat everyone to snacks."

As for Richie, whom she shares the most scenes with in the show, Biren revealed he is quieter in person and is "less likely to initiate conversations".

"That's why, as their mother, sometimes I will buy them food and ask them to eat together. Funnily, when we were seated at the dinner table, eating, there would be more things to talk about," she quipped.

However, it's now time for Biren to return to her real life kids, especially her youngest daughter, Janelle, who's taking her PSLE this year.

The actress, who revealed at the Star Awards that she won't take on anymore roles this year, said: "I don't expect her to get As, it's just that when her older brother and sister were taking their PSLE, I stayed home to accompany them."

So for Janelle, she's expected to do the same.

In fact, Biren had promised to help Janelle with her studies long ago, but was unfortunately held up when filming for Your World In Mine got delayed.

"I gave her my word that I would be there to help her, but in the end, even after her mid-year exams were over, I was still shooting the show."

According to Biren, Janelle jested: "Mummy, you helped ge ge and jie jie but you didn't help me. If I don't do well, you can't blame me, it's not my fault."
