How Cooking Mee Hoon Kueh Made Ya Hui Discover Her New Passion In Life

Ya Hui has been enjoying life recently. The 32-year-old, whose dialect drama, How Are You?, is now airing on Ch 8, was in Hongkong last month with her BFF Chen Liping where they made like tourists and indulged in egg tarts, milk tea and countless selfies. She has also taken a keen interest in trekking and on her IG, has made the MacRitchie treetop walk look like, well, a walk in the park. But for fans of the actress, don’t worry, she’s been busy with work too. She’s about to start filming her new drama, While You Were Away, where she plays an “ice queen” jewellery designer with a heart of gold.

When we call Ya Hui on the phone, she picks up sounding cheerful and bubbly as always. But she’s actually in the middle of a pretty busy day, having just rushed from the gym to a hair appointment with only time for a coffee run in between. Well, that and a quick chat on the phone with us.

She talks to us like we’re longtime friends, enthusiastically sharing her love for cooking and for Team Yahui, her really (like really, really) supportive fan club. The club recently celebrated their seventh anniversary and at the gathering, she treated her fans to mee hoon kueh, which she had made from scratch.
