How Ayden Sng and Zhang Zetong Reacted To Star Awards Snubs

After the big reveal on Mar 9, rising actors Ayden, 27, and Zetong, 28, shared their thoughts on not making the cut on their respective IG Stories on Mar 11. Mused Ayden, “Really grateful for so many of y’all (sic) for dropping me a note to encourage me post announcement. In all honesty, I’m not that affected. In fact, I’m really quite heartened to see the waves of messages coming in. At the end of the day, if being a “popular artiste” equates to receiving unconditional love and support from fans, I feel like I [have already] succeeded.”

He continued, “That said, many of y’all (sic) have expressed that SA is actually more for the fans than the artiste in the sense that this is kind of your chance to show your support in a quantifiable way. I do apologise for taking this experience away from y’all (sic) this time round and I certainly hope that next time, we’ll be able to experience this together. Again, really grateful to have y’all (sic). I am, beyond doubt, a blessed and well-loved boy”.

Zetong, who is up for the Best Newcomer award, was more succinct and, um, relaxed. He wrote, “Thanks for all the love and support @zhangzetongofficialfc. On things we can’t control, just sit back and chill la.”

In a previous interview with 8days.sg, Chantalle Ng, BFF with Ayden and co-star of Zetong in his debut drama All Around You, had this to say about their omission from The List: “For Zetong, I wish him the best for his Best Newcomer nomination, and as for Ayden, it came as a shock that he wasn’t nominated for any awards this year, but I’d like to tell him to continue to work hard, and I believe the stars will align and his time will come soon.”
