How Ann Kok Slayed Her 2014 8 DAYS Swimsuit Shoot Without Even Dieting

For Issue 1238 in 2014, Ann and the 8 DAYS crew flew to the idyllic island of Boracay. “It was my first trip there,” the 44-year-old actress recalls. “The shoot came up suddenly, so I didn’t have much time to prepare for it. I didn’t go on a special diet or workout for my swimsuit shoot — as an actress, I’m already watching my diet all the time and I was frequently hitting the gym. It helps to do all these things on a daily basis. Don’t wait till the last minute to pump everything up!”

“It was a fun trip. Everything went smoothly, though I got some rashes on my ankles ’cos my skin is very sensitive. After we were done shooting during the day, we went drinking at night, but [I didn’t drink] a lot. Just ’cos we are doing a swimsuit shoot doesn’t mean I cannot take this, cannot take that (laughs).”

Okay, we lied. There is no exposé other than deliberate peekaboos. “The swimsuits didn’t come with any padded bras or push-up sponges, so I had to use nipple tape. Sometimes when you wear very sexy bikinis you risk accidentally exposing yourself!” Ann tells us.

Ann shares: “I quite like one-piece swimsuits. I have bikinis and all, but somehow a one-piece will always be the most classic. If you choose the right one it can be nice as well. You don’t need to show a lot of skin to be sexy.”

Ann strips down for our Issue 817 cover… except she didn’t know it was a swimsuit shoot. “I thought it was a shoot about bags,” she laughs. “That was my favourite [swimsuit-related] cover. The styling, the photography — everything looked good. It was not just the usual sexy shoot. It had a mischievous [vibe] about it. I was so inspired after the shoot that I went out and bought some bags after that (laughs).
