Hong Ling Not Letting Star Awards Snub Affect Her, Fiancé Nick Teo Says She’s His Best Actress

Star Awards 2023 saw a number of surprise winners, and shocking snubs. Case in point: Pierre Png, 49, and Hong Ling, 28, both of whom were considered shoo-ins for the Top 10 Most Popular awards.

For Hong Ling, she was nominated for four awards this year: Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes, Best Actress, as well as two MyPICK! awards — Favourite Female Show Stealer and Favourite CP with her Your World In Mine co-star, Desmond Ng, 35.

When the actress was interviewed by the hosts of Star Awards Backstage Live after not getting into the Top 10, Hong Ling admitted that she was “a little disappointed” that she didn’t make the cut. After all, she has won the award for the past two consecutive years. 

However, Hong Ling also acknowledged that the competition was tougher this year, and added that she’ll work even harder moving forward.

She went on to give a shout out to her fiancé Nick Teo, 33, who also did not manage to make it to the ranks of the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes.

“Actually I’m more disappointed that Nick [didn’t win],” she said before adding that she hopes that they will each win a Top 10 award next year, and so can stand on stage together.

After the awards, Nick took to his Instagram to share his thoughts on the night and about Hong Ling.

"I want to dedicate this post to this girl who works very hard for every role that she gets,” he wrote, adding that he’s "a little bit jealous of her gift in acting”.

Tagging Hong Ling in his caption, Nick went on to write: "Stand tall stand proud, you fought a battle well. In my heart, you have already won! You are my best actress, always.”

So sweet, right?
