Hong Ling’s Dad Didn’t React When Nick Teo Announced Her Pregnancy — Here’s Why
Most of the time, you'd expect people to squeal with joy or be moved to tears when told they're about to become grandparents.
But for Hong Ling's dad, that wasn't quite the case — at least not at first.
Earlier this month, Mediacorp celeb couple Nick Teo and Hong Ling announced that they're expecting a baby.
The 32-year-old actress revealed at the time that she was three months pregnant, with the baby due in 2027.
They also shared that they'd found out about the pregnancy a few months earlier while at the airport.
Naturally, the couple shared the good news with their family in a much more intimate setting before telling the world.
Hong Ling also posted a new reel documenting the precious moment.
In the clip, Hong Ling's family — including her younger sister, local tattoo artist Casiline Ang, her dad, and her younger brother — appear to be seated on a sofa, waiting to take a group photo.
But Nick, who was behind the camera, suddenly announced: "Hong Ling is pregnant!"
Almost everyone reacted instantly, with Casiline turning to look at Hong Ling before giving her a hug, while the rest cheered.
There was, however, one person who barely moved an inch.
Surprisingly, all Hong Ling's dad did was continue sitting there, smiling at the camera as though his son-in-law hadn't just made one of the biggest announcements of his life.
His indifference eventually prompted Nick to ask: "Daddy, you didn't hear what I said?"
Still, Hong Ling's dad looked confused and glanced around at his children, seemingly wondering what was going on.
Eventually, Nick had to repeat himself: "Hong Ling's pregnant."
That's when his father-in-law finally registered the news.
"I didn't hear! I didn't hear!" he said with a smile, before turning to look at his daughter.
As adorable as it could get, the family then began applauding the couple before Hong Ling's niece leaned forward to give her a hug.
"It takes my dad seven business days to realise I'm pregnant," Hong Ling later quipped in her caption.
Well, his reaction might have been delayed, but we're sure he must have been thrilled — once it finally sank in.
