Hong Ling Had A Miscarriage 11 Weeks Into Pregnancy, Says She & Husband Nick Teo Let Fear Stop Them From Talking About It

It has been a really tough year for Mediacorp actress Hong Ling, 30.

On Mother's Day (May 11), Hong Ling revealed in an Instagram post that she suffered a miscarriage earlier this year. 

She wrote: "As Mother's Day approaches, my heart feels an unbearable ache. Never in my darkest dreams did I imagine experiencing such immense pain, losing both my beloved mum and my precious baby earlier this year." 

Hong Ling's mother died from cancer at the age of 52 on February 23. 

"These nights are difficult, often end up crying myself to sleep. My faith was shaken, I was overwhelmed by grief," she continued.

She added that she and and her husband Nick Teo, 35, had let fear stop them from sharing about the loss. 

"Every conversation about children pierced through our hearts," she wrote, adding that they had to hide their pain behind forced smiles and that it was "the loneliest thing" they've ever done. 

They were planning to keep her pregnancy a secret for the first trimester but Hong Ling sadly miscarried before the three-month mark.

In an interview with Zaobao, Hong Ling revealed she began to experience bleeding 11 weeks into her pregnancy in February. She immediately sought medical help, but her baby was found to no longer have a heartbeat. 

"It did not happen because I did anything wrong. Although I'm still very sad, I believe my body and emotions will slowly heal," she said. 

Accompanying Hong Ling's post was a black and white video of her telling Nick she was expecting. Nick shed tears of joy and the couple were also seen celebrating the news with their three cats.

Hong Ling also told Zaobao she decided to open up about her loss as a way to remember their baby, and to let others who are going through the same thing know they are not alone.

Hong Ling and Nick have been married since December 2023.

They have since received an outpouring of love from fans and fellow celebs including Chantalle Ng, Tay Ying, James Seah, and Brandon Wong.
