Hong Ling Does Not Think Her Cat Likes Fiancé Nick Teo More Despite What Animal Communicator Claims
Cat mum knows best.
From a really sassy pet tortoise to cats that are apparently able to sense the supernatural at home, a number of celebs found out some pretty interesting tidbits about their beloved four-legged friends after attending a session with a pet communicator in new series Just Swipe Lah — Celebrity Pet Talk.
In one of the first episodes, the pet communicator, Pearlyn Siew, attempts to translate the thoughts of Mediacorp actress Hong Ling’s pet cat, Jinbao.
Hong Ling, 28, got her first cat Zhaocai in January 2021. About half a year later, Jinbao joined the family. In February this year, she welcomed a new addition to her little cat family, a female kitten named Eve.
When asked if Jinbao prefers Hong Ling, or the actress’ fiancé Nick Teo, 33, Pearlyn shared that Jinbao appeared to prefer Nick over Hong Ling.
It's a revelation that cat mum Hong Ling doesn’t quite agree with, as she shares with 8days.sg over a WhatsApp conversation.
“Jinbao’s bias is definitely me!” Hong Ling wrote, adding that Jinbao “doesn’t even bother to look at [Nick]”.
Ouch…
Well, if it’s any consolation for Nick, at least Hong Ling’s other cat, Zhaocai, prefers him, according to the actress.
Hong Ling then went on to muse that Jinbao might have been distracted and nervous, which could’ve been why the pet communicator didn’t manage to read his thoughts well.
After all, Jinbao was in a totally new environment, and cats tend to take a while before they feel comfortable in strange spaces.
“[Nick and I] talked about [what the pet communicator said], but we feel that as their mum, I know my cats better,” Hong Ling went on to share.
So what’s Hong Ling’s secret to understanding the inner thoughts of her cats?
“I talk to them every single day! I’ll chat with them, ask them things, tell them ‘Good morning’ and ‘Bye bye’ when I go out,” she shared.
But of course, there are still some things that she really wants to get across to them.
“I wanna let them know that they’re my precious [babies], and please, don’t be so naughty!” she laughs when we ask her what she wants to tell her cats.
Spoken like a true cat mum.
