Heavily Pregnant Tay Kewei Hopes Her Helper Returns From Philippines & Confinement Nanny Arrives From Malaysia Amid COVID-19 Uncertainty

Being cooped up at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic can be distressing. Family members start to get on each other’s nerves and cabin fever can get the better of us. But when you’re seven and a half months pregnant and stuck at home with an Energizer bunny of a kid in his terrible twos without your helper, the stress is a whole ‘nother level.

And that’s basically Tay Kewei’s life ever since the circuit breaker measures kicked in earlier this month. With her helper unable to return from the Philippines due to the lockdown and pre-schools here closed, the singer-songwriter has had to take care of her super cute — but “uncontrollable” — son Shen Momo, tackle the household chores, all while prepping for the arrival of baby no. 2. The days are literally back-breaking and the struggle is real.

“I was so happy to put Momo in school at the beginning of this year ‘cos it takes him off my back. And now he's back home, his schedule has been really messy. He doesn’t nap, sleeps really late at night, so sometimes we go downstairs for walks ‘cos we need to expend his energy. It’s been really tough and tiring. I don’t have time to do other things ‘cos I end up being very bogged down by household chores,” Kewei tells 8days.sg over the phone last week.
