Hazelle Teo Wore A Sparkly See-Through $10K Top To SA2024 & Was Asked If Her Nude Bra Was Her Real Boobs
Take a look through YES 933 DJ Hazelle Teo’s #OOTDs — or #fitchecks, as the kids would say these days — on Instagram and you’ll see that she’s not afraid of baring a little skin.
This boldness was on display at the Star Awards last Sunday (Apr 21) when she rocked up to the red carpet for hosting duties in a bejewelled see-through top — worth a cool S$10K, by the way — from enVie de Pois.
As if that wasn’t enough bling, she added some exquisite pieces from bespoke luxury jeweller Yadanar Gems, namely a pair of feather-shaped diamond and white gold earrings, stacks of diamond rings, and three diamond-studded bracelets in white gold, rose gold, and yellow gold.
Reflecting on her accessories, Hazelle told with 8days.sg, “I like how people saw my earrings differently. For example, my makeup artist thought they were fishbones! So that was quite cool. I’m also absolutely in love with how they elongate my neck.”
Opting to stack her rings for a youthful flair, her style choice was particularly striking as she wielded the microphone during her hosting duties.
As jaw-dropping as her whole look was, for her fellow YES 933 DJ Zhong Kunhua, however, his first thought was of concern for Hazelle. Apparently, he wasn’t sure if her nude stick-on bra was her chest and feared a potential wardrobe malfunction.
”When we were back at work the next day, he asked me, ‘Were those your real boobs?’” Hazelle recounted with a laugh. Rest assured, Kunhua, she was properly covered up in all the necessary spots.
The razzle-dazzle didn’t stop there. Later, Hazelle changed into a crystal-sprinkled caped frock, also from enVie De Pois, and traded her feather-shaped dangling earrings for another Yadanar Gems pair embedded with star sapphire gemstones in pink and blue.
Speaking of her bejewelled outfits, shimmer and sparkle seemed to be a recurring theme at this year’s Star Awards — All That Glitters (emphasis on “Glitters”) won Best Drama Serial, and even Onew, member of K-pop boy group SHINee (pronounced “shiny”) was there.
In a dazzling display of sartorial serendipity, a constellation of stars sashayed onto the red carpet at the Mediacorp Campus decked in a bold and beautiful array of bright, blinged out ensembles that would give Christmas trees and Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour wardrobe a run for their money. Read on for more of our favourite looks.
Kym Ng
The Best Actress winner oozed old Hollywood glam in a starry off-shoulder — yes, Zhu Houren, it’s supposed to look like that — stunner on her big night. And since TV queens can never have too much glitter, she paired her celestial getup with almost $40K worth of diamonds and peridots from Yadanar Gems. Did she predict her win? Because those gems match her glossy new trophy almost perfectly. Celebs, take note: coordinate your jewels with your desired award.
Juin Teh
Interestingly, while Juin’s silver “crumpled” breastplate top by Malaysian designer Dikson appeared to be made of metal, it was actually a softer PVC-like material, she clarified. Is it just us, or was she giving Fan Bingbing meets Zendaya in this avant-garde ensemble? That’s a massive compliment, by the way.
Felicia Chin
Feli has flaunted a wide variety of looks to the Star Awards over the years, and this gilded sequin gown by Alex Perry has definitely sparkled its way into our Top 5 favourite outfits of hers. Not only does it flawlessly complement her skin tone — colour analysis enthusiasts, where you at? — but it also proves that you can still look Sexy with a capital S even when all covered up. She completed her look with bling that “cost as much as [her] house”.
Ann Kok
Why be subtle when you can shine bright enough to rival the sun? After all, Ann here did just ‘graduate’ to All-Time Favourite Artiste status after picking up her tenth and final Top 10 trophy. It’s certainly something worth shouting about — and we guess she chose to do it with her striking silver-scaled frock by Dolce & Gabbana.
He Yingying
If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to lug around a sack of rice for a couple of hours, just ask the bodacious Yingying, whose trippy drippy embellished dress by Indonesian designer Yogie Pratama weighed around 5kg. Manoeuvring in that masterpiece wasn’t a walk in the park, she admitted. Dodging beads to avoid a tumble? Talk about a workout. But was the hassle worth it? You bet it was.
Zoe Tay
If someone told us that Ah Jie would show up looking like a comic book panel but still slay hard like she always does, we would’ve called them crazy. And yet here we are, mesmerised by her ability to strike an impeccable balance of on-brand elegance and refreshing quirkiness in this fiery Tom Ford number. The sequined explosion bubble represents how our minds are blown.
Xiang Yun
We were pleasantly surprised to see Xiang Yun roll up to the red carpet in this glitter-dusted Marchesa toga that’s a little different — i.e. sexier and more daring — from what we’re used to seeing her in. Together with her long reddish-brown tresses and fresh makeup, she is giving Roman goddess letting her hair down at a party. Is she doing the Angelina Jolie leg? Fierce.
Yunis To
"Best Rising Star"? Yunis practically outshone the entire galaxy in this dazzling gold gown, which looked like it could’ve been plucked straight out of Daenerys Targaryen’s formalwear arsenal from Game of Thrones. Sure, she’s not quite at Khaleesi level on screen yet, but hey, they do say dress for the job — or in this case, the award — you want. Who knows? Maybe next time she’ll bring her own dragons.
Desmond Tan
Not many of the guys went the bedazzling route this year, but leave it to Desmond to embark on the style road less travelled and rock this simple yet killer Celine suit, which he changed into before accepting his Top 10 gong. Maybe it was his subtle nod to how his new baby has added some sparkle to his world? Speaking of sparkle, Desmond’s selfie with Rui En and Chen Hanwei suggested that his suit’s sequins danced with colour under the changing lights. Now that’s a fun touch.
