Hazelle Teo On Her Bra-Baring Appearance To Sell Bras On Live Stream; Says She's All For Being Comfortable In Your Own Skin

If you've been following YES 933 DJ Hazelle Teo, you'd know that she's all about encouraging body positivity. 

In the most recent episode of e-commerce live stream show The Wonder Shop, which was hosted by Hazelle and local actress Karyn Wong, the 28-year-old jock definitely walked the walk when she confidently showed up wearing just a bra underneath her jacket to, well, sell bras.

When 8days.sg reached out to Hazelle, she shared that The Wonder Shop team was the one who suggested she wear only her bra for the live stream. 

Hazelle, ever so sporting, was immediately for it. In fact, her outfit for the stream was what she wore to work that day.

According to Hazelle, it's not too far off from her daily OOTD and her Shuang Jie Kun co-host Zhong Kunhua is "very used to" her, um, dressing light.

"I usually show up in... I mean, if I gym, like today, then I'll be in a sports bra. Usually I'll have an outer wear over because it gets a bit cold. But yah, I'm very okay to dress light and he's very okay as well," she quipped.

8DAYS: How did you end up baring your bra to host the latest episode of The Wonder Shop? 

HAZELLE: As a co-host of the Hush podcast, I always say women should embrace our bodies and be comfortable in our own skin. So actually The Wonder Shop team did suggest I show up in a bra and I've always found it okay to do so. There wasn't much of an issue.

Is there a reason your co-host Karyn didn't do the same? Was she not comfortable with it?

Oh, we wanted to cleverly showcase the bras in different outfits and designs. So for me, it was kind of a sporty look. But for Karyn, it was more of like when women wear white tops, we would want our bras to be concealed, so she was showcasing that.

That's why we decided to not all show it. In fact, I feel like if we all show the bra then maybe it's a bit too much?

Do you think baring your bra helped with the sales?

(Laughs) I hope so, because other than us, the boss of I'M IN, which is the brand of the bra, also showed up, showcasing one of the other colours that both of us didn't wear.

And I feel like if we already showcased the bras to our customers, that is the best statement to prove how comfortable and pretty the bras can be when they're worn. 

Whether or not it helped with the sales... I feel it did, but not because we wore it, but because the boss showed up herself and talked about the benefits of her bras. Even I placed orders myself! (Laughs)

Did it feel uncomfortable to be doing a live stream in just a bra?

No leh, I don't think it was uncomfortable at all for me. Maybe I'm someone who's more confident, I would say? It doesn't put pressure on me at all that I'm in a bra, besides, I have an outer wear so I think that's fine. 

But I do feel for women who're not comfortable with just showing up in a bra. I mean, not just any other bra lah. These bras are made to be this comfortable and so pretty that you can show it, and not all bras are designed this way. The most important thing is to be comfortable, because only when we're comfortable then we can be confident.
