Grab Delivery Rider Seen Dragging Bags Of Food Along Suntec City Floor, Reportedly Suspended From Work
A grab food rider has come under scrutiny for dragging his food order along the floor of Suntec City on his way to the carpark. He was bending over while holding onto three plastic bags filled with items from Jollibee, two of them massive and containing 1.5 litre bottles of Coca-Cola.
The incident was spotted by an individual named Dan, who later reported the incident to Stomp. While Dan sympathised with the rider, noting that "it was a lot to carry", he also felt the rider could have made two trips rather than drag edible items on the floor.
Stomp also reported that Grab has "temporarily suspended the delivery-partner for breaching its code of conduct".
The clip was later reposted on Reddit, with many Singaporeans sharing their two cents on the situation.
Some shared the same sentiments as Dan, saying the rider "should've rejected the order" if he wasn't able to handle it.
A couple also joked that Grab delivery riders need trolleys for the job now.
However, many were very sympathetic towards the rider's situation.
Some said the rider may have been afraid of the plastic bags tearing, while others said his actions were "completely understandable" as the bags looked just too heavy.
Others believe that Dan should have offered to help the rider instead of filming him, with one netizen adding: "I get that it's not a nice thing to see but do we have to film and get people sacked."
Netizens also believe a staff from Jollibee should have provided their assistance in such a scenario.
One commenter felt there was "nothing wrong" with the rider dragging food on the floor, given they are contained in bags and would not be contaminated. The argument was countered by another netizen who said the same bags may be placed on the dining table later on, making it "very unhygienic".
What's your take — should the delivery rider be forgiven for his actions, or was he in the wrong?
