Glenn Yong Says Security Staff Who Frisked Him At Changi Airport Brushed Against His Private Parts Twice

Going through airport security is rarely anyone's favourite part of travelling.

For Glenn Yong, however, a recent security check at Changi Airport apparently got a little too close for comfort.

The 29-year-old Singapore actor-singer took to Instagram Stories to share an uncomfortable encounter he claims happened while he was preparing to board a flight from Singapore.

According to Glenn, he was going through the "usual security checks" when he felt the man frisking him was being "unusually touchy".

"Was boarding my flight in Singapore today and going through the usual security checks, and the guy frisking me was unusually touchy," he wrote.

He then alleged that the staff member brushed against his private parts twice during the frisk.

"Like... what the heck????? Is this even allowed," he wrote.

Glenn did not initially share further details about the encounter, including which terminal he was departing from, where he was flying to, why he underwent a pat-down or whether he raised the matter with airport staff at the time.

8days.sg reached out to Glenn who shared that he will keep everyone updated through his social media.

In response to 8days.sg, Changi Airport Group (CAG) said they are aware of Glenn's Instagram Stories and are looking into the matter.

However, Glenn returned to Instagram Stories with an update hours later. And he was still clearly upset about what had allegedly happened.

"I'm still super pissed. How can something like this be happening, especially in Singapore @changiairport. My team is reporting the situation but seriously you'll need to make sure your officers are properly trained and actually following the correct frisking procedures,” he wrote.

He also suggested that he believes other passengers may have had similar experiences.

"I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that experienced security officers frisking inappropriately around the private areas. Something needs to be done about this to make sure people feel safe, please,” Glenn added.

Glenn did not say who his team was filing the report with or provide further details about the security officer involved.

Security screening is required before boarding a flight at Changi Airport.

According to Changi Airport, passengers departing from Terminals 1, 2 and 3 undergo security screening at their boarding gates, while Terminal 4 has centralised screening immediately after departure immigration.

CAG has previously said that at Terminal 4, body scanners can identify areas requiring additional checks, after which security staff may conduct a targeted pat-down.

However, based on Glenn's account alone, it remains unclear what type of screening he underwent, why a physical check was conducted or whether the contact he described was in accordance with standard security procedures.
